Job Summary

The Operations Lead, under the direction of the Sr. Manager Operations, will supervise and coordinate contractor inspection activities; permitting; assist with management of PA1 Call locates and Locator resources, including working with Damage Prevention in the management of third party locate contractors; support coordination of restoration work including responding to customer and municipal inquiries; directing daily operations related to the installation of service, main, and other capital infrastructure assets; ensure prompt and accurate regulatory compliance and related documentation/record keeping of this work; assist in the achievement of Operations group and company goals and metrics; and oversee special projects as assigned in their area of responsibility. Will participate as a Duty Supervisor as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • In the absence of the Sr. Operations Supervisor or as needed, directly supervise UGI Penn Natural Gas and contractor employees in the safe, reliable installation and maintenance of UGI distribution facilities. Ensure all safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements are met.

  • Assist the Supervisor in the planning, preparation, and execution of capital infrastructure construction, and all associated documentation and records associated with it.

  • Work with employees as a group and individually to develop and enhance skills required to perform work in the most productive and safe manner possible. Work with training department to ensure that employees receive appropriate training.

  • Assist the Supervisor in the management of PA1 Call activity and restoration activity associated with all gas Operations Group work and all associated documentation and records associated with it.

  • Respond to and take a leadership role in emergencies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Technical knowledge of the installation and maintenance of gas facilities.

  • Familiarity of Federal, State, and Local Codes and Safety Regulations.

  • Ability to read field records, construction drawings, and maps.

  • Knowledge of Union Contracts and Terms.

  • Knowledge of pipeline contract.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Associate Degree in Construction Management, Science, Eng., etc. A 2-to-4-year degree in varied disciplines has proven to be a valuable asset, but not a strict requirement.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the gas industry.

  • Certain internal training and OQ certifications may be required as determined by Management.

  • Valid PA Driver’s License.

  • Problem solving and human relation skills in routine and emergency situations.
