New York Power Authority Total Rewards Senior Specialist in White Plains, New York


The Total Rewards Senior Specialist is a provisional role that will have a maximum of a 3 year term. The total rewards team, part of the HR operations team at NYPA, serves with the purpose of designing and delivering exceptional programs and information that support employees needs throughout their employment lifecycle enabling them to be present at work. We’re passionate about providing excellent service that supports customer needs through timely communication, education and appropriate resolution.


• Support compensation and benefits program managers with research, data analytics and modeling, analyzing internal and external practices, and communication to support total rewards program changes

• Ensure efficiency in HR partnerships internally and with external vendors through financial analysis evaluating our compensation and benefits programs and spend, monitoring vendor Service Level Agreements and other contract terms, managing Request for Proposal calendar, support program managers in determining RFP questions and evaluation of responses, monitor budget accruals and plan for each year’s budget, support team with data needed for audits

• Test system changes for compensation and benefits programs based on understanding of plan requirements

• Adapt to changing needs based on peak times in HR Operations – between compensation, benefits, and HR information systems – to support teams with various total rewards projects

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Excellent organizational, communication and project management skills with exceptional follow through and attention to detail. Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects within varying competing deadlines

• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Demonstrate ability to think creatively and critically when solving problems

• Knowledge of HR and benefits-related laws such as HIPAA, COBRA, FLSA

• Proficient in advanced technologies of Office 365 including SharePoint and creating Excel pivot tables, v-lookups, macros, advanced charting functions, etc.

• Knowledge and experience administering and designing benefits and/or compensation programs

• Strong research skills and ability to find information without a prescribed path, using external resources and networks

• Ability to observe confidentiality and discretion

Education, Experience and Certifications

• Bachelors’ Degree required

• Familiarity with HR information systems - SAP and/or Success Factors experience preferred

• Minimum five years of experience in compensation and/or benefits
