New York Power Authority Director Enterprise Change Mgmt & Engagement in White Plains, New York


The Director Enterprise Change Management & Engagement is responsible for building and scaling NYPA’s change management practice, and aligning enterprise-wide engagement to our strategic vision. The Director will define, develop and execute an effective change management strategy. The Director Change Management is responsible for establishing a structured change methodology and building the organization’s core change management capability. Acting as a coordinating force, the Director will bring together transformational efforts within NYPA, and ensure that a unified organizational vision is articulated and communicated across the organization. The Director will design, develop, deliver and manage strategic change communications and marketing both at the department and enterprise level. Being the champion of change the Director will also deliver change management training/coaching to executives, management and project teams.


  • Responsible for leading the creation and execution of the change management and deployment strategy supporting NYPA’s strategic vision. Design, develop, deliver and manage strategic change communications and marketing to engage the organization with transformational initiatives

  • Analyze the behavioral risks embedded in the project plans of major strategic initiatives, identify common themes and broader change management needs across the organization, and prioritize efforts to have the greatest impact on the business

  • Coordinate change efforts across NYPA, ensuring that a common vision of how NYPA’s transformation efforts are tied into the organization’s broader purpose and mission is articulated and embedded into the organization

  • Drive the awareness and adoption of effective change management principles and practices at all levels of NYPA

  • Introduce a consistent, best practice change methodology and toolkit and ensure that they are utilized for change efforts across NYPA

  • Create and coordinate a coalition of those driving transformational programs, to ensure organizational transformation is addressed broadly and holistically

  • Develop and maintain an inventory of change across the enterprise and ensure that change efforts are coordinated and balanced across programs and business units; manage the change portfolio

  • Conduct comprehensive stakeholder analyses to diagnose the broader impacts of current and upcoming change initiatives; develop strong relationships across the organization to facilitate stakeholder engagement

  • Engage and support senior leaders on their role in change management

  • Coach senior leaders, managers, and employees at any level in supporting change efforts across the organization

  • Facilitate communication of the strategy to inform and engage staff and maintain support for change

  • Ensure that change communications, coaching and training plans are created and executed for all transformational projects and programs

  • Define and measure success metrics and monitor change progress

  • Creative ability to design, develop and deliver strategic communications and marketing materials related to change efforts across the organization

  • Ability to interact and manage relationships effectively with all levels of internal personnel as well as stakeholders external to the organization

  • Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to lead and execute business programs. Excellent written, oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills to effectively share information and work collaboratively with business group leaders, executive management

  • Ability to multi-task under time sensitive schedules and where multiple projects are pursued concurrently with good process orientation and attention to detail without losing sight of the 'big picture' perspective

  • Excellent quantitative/qualitative skills plus the ability to present and communicate ideas and complex material effectively both to small groups and large audiences

  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner to produce accurate, well-documented work products with strict attention to detail and necessary follow through

  • Proficient in utilizing technology effectively. Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required. Visio, Tableau and survey software skills highly desirable

  • Experience managing the compilation of complex data including the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from data sets

  • Strong integrity and trustworthiness. Ability to handle confidential information and sensitive issues professionally with diplomacy, discretion and integrity

  • Ability to synthesize information, evaluate facts, determine alternative solutions to problems, and to reach and communicate sound management and business decisions

  • Ability to facilitate change workshops with all levels of the organization

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelors’ degree

  • Graduate level degree in relavant field strongly preferred

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in designing and leading enterprise-wide Change Management; Experience must include significant work with senior leadership on change management

  • 4+ years experience or management experience

  • Experience in business transformations

  • Experience in the energy/utility industry is a plus

  • Experience designing and executing enterprise level communication campaigns support of change

  • Experience with Strategic Communications or Marketing is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Approximately 10% travel primarily within NY State
