Developmental Intern - Risk Management
Intern will work with Insurance Risk Management group to develop and build models for NYPA & NYCC Insurance Program renewals/policies. Model will focus on analysis of policy limits and retentions. This will benefit the Risk Management Business Unit to make more informed decisions surrounding the amount of coverage to purchase and risk retained by the organization as a whole.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities the intern will walk away with at the end of the internship:
Skills: Upon completion of the internship a successful intern will have gained additional technical skills and practical experience with Microsoft Excel and Power point as well as exposure to modeling tools such as Palisade @Risk.
Knowledge: Upon completion of the internship a successful intern will have gained additional knowledge about the insurance marketplace including general industry terms, policy language and review, insurance and other risk transfer tools and maintaining positive relationships with brokers and insurance carrier.
Abilities: Upon completion of the internship a successful intern will have enhanced their public speaking, time management, problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration abilities.
Intern should be highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and Power Point. Additional skills which would benefit are experience with VBA writing in excel, Palisade Decision Tools Suite (@Risk) or other modeling tools.Intern should have general knowledge of the Insurance Marketplace including products, policy language, and standard industry terms.

Completion of three years of an undergraduate program in Finance, Mathematics, Risk or Insurance Working towards a masters degree in Finance, Mathematics, Risk or Insurance is preferred.Candidate must have a strong background in Mathematics, especially in probability and statistics.
