Summary

NYPA is the first electric utility in North America to achieve a coveted international certification, ISO 55001, for meeting the most rigorous asset management standards. The Asset Management System Development Lead, within Strategic Operations supports the Authority’s next step in its asset management journey by identifying, developing and managing implementation with a cross functional team, a program of improvement activities within NYPA’s Asset Management System to increase the value that NYPA’s assets can deliver for its customers. The Asset Management System Development Lead performs a vital role in propelling the organization to undertake the changes in a new roadmap that will elevate the financial or non­financial performance of NYPA’s Asset Management System. S/he will also lead up improvement initiatives within the new roadmap to enhance strategic planning for asset management and governance integration across NYPA.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of improvement needs and update and maintain the roadmap of activities.

  • Review the Asset Management (AM) subjects for opportunities to increase AM System maturity based on strategic alignment, meeting AM objectives and creating value.

  • Prioritize improvement needs, develop quantifiable rationales, establish initial benefits, and develop high level delivery strategies to enable execution, of all identified improvements .

  • Work with Asset Analysts to resolve implementation hurdles in collaboration with stakeholders and monitor implementation progress

  • Advise Asset Owners with a collaborative approach in order to develop asset strategies to improve the asset management system.

  • Conduct scenario analysis to provide valuable insights into decision making.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Asset Management principles and systems to drive continual improvement.

  • Ability to navigate through complexity and ambiguity.

  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented, with ability to build and influence relationships with stakeholders across all levels.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, exceptional follow through and attention to detail

  • Ability to lead, organize, prioritize, and integrate multiple projects

  • Ability to think strategically and holistically, to understand interdependencies and implement changes to mitigate risk.

  • Ability to acquire, analyze and interpret data to identify potential issues and develop practical recommendations.

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Asset Management systems and business process modeling and analytical tools

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in physical asset management.

  • Experience in developing strategies and plans.

  • Utility experience, preferred.

  • Experience with Enterprise Asset Management Systems required (MAXIMO preferred), SAP experience (or ability to learn).

Physical Requirements

  • Significant travel expected (25% - 45% depending upon responsibilities), primarily within NY State to NYPA owned facilities by car, company plane and commercial transportation.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Ability to travel for meetings and project coordination.

  • Availability to attend meetings outside of normal business hours.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is: $118,920.00 - $163,510.00. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
