Eversource Energy Senior Energy Efficiency Consultant, Workforce Development in Westwood, Massachusetts

In this role within the energy efficiency department, you will oversee all aspects of Workforce Development across Residential, Commercial & Industrial sectors in Massachusetts.

The Workforce Development Energy Efficiency Consultant will ensure both Eversource’s Massachusetts’ Residential and Commercial sectors have an adequate and sufficiently trained workforce to support Eversource’s robust Energy Efficiency goals. Responsibilities include the ongoing review of the existing workforce and Eversource’s needs, development of strategies for expanding, training, and retaining the MA energy efficiency workforce, designing training programs and work readiness initiatives, coordinating with external and internal stakeholders, and direct oversight of all Workforce Development efforts.

Essential Functions

  • Program Development : Continuous review and proactive improvement strategies to existing workforce development offerings. Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop robust strategies that offer best-in-class approaches to recruit, upskill, and retain the energy efficiency workforce. Forge relationships withcontractors/vendors/stakeholdersto formalize contractor networks and partnerships. Works collaboratively with other MA gas and electric utilities and energy efficiency service providers. Responsible for the implementation of the developed WFD strategy, development of associated business documents, which could include curriculum development/support, contracts, RFPs, and accurate and timeline invoice processing and tracking.
  • Stakeholder engagement : Proactively develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Engagement includes, but is not limited to liaising with the energy efficiency external community and workforce development stakeholders, supporting supplier diversity efforts, sitting on advisory boards for workforce development entities, managing relationships with vocational educational institutions, and collaborating with state workforce development entities and other MA utility companies to further program goals.
  • Services Coordination : Serve as a point-of-contact and work with all parties/vendors currently leading and managing Eversource’s energy efficiency workforce training. Manage and motivate vendor and contractor relationships. Work collaboratively with business units, such as Commercial & Industrial, Residential, Marketing, Education, Procurement, Evaluation, Community Relations, and Supplier Diversity to help achieve Workforce Development goals.
  • Goal Tracking & Development : Set diverse workforce development goals, track program performance, and annually support program evaluation. Monitor participation and progress toward regulatory goals for energy savings (where applicable), budget spending, as well as internal goals (key performance indicators) of program implementation and productivity. If/when necessary, develop and execute strategic initiatives to boost performance to goals. Ensure that data is accurately and consistently gathered and that key performance indicators are met. Lead efforts to develop budgets and set targets for the program, and administer and manage Workforce Development program vendor, budget, and savings goals. Responsible for tracking and achieving key WFD related performance metrics.
  • Business Support : Provide support for Commercial and Residential Program Implementation teams, Commercial Sales, Channel, and Strategic Account Partnership teams across Eversource’s MA, CT, and NT territory.
  • Planning & Regulatory: Responsible for supporting WFD inquiries from external stakeholders, budgeting, and metrics tracking. May require presentations to external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Technical Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to generate clear, concise information and to vary writing styles to meet the needs of a variety of audiences

  • Proficiency in relevant software, e.g., Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of applicable industry practices, trends, and legislation
  • Familiarity with issues of equity and intersectionality
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts community development, workforce development, energy efficiency, and public vocational-technical educational ecosystem(s) is an asset
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, or another language is commonly spoken in Massachusetts is an asset

Experience:

Required

  • 5 + years minimum experience workforce development program design, administration and implementation; experience creating workforce development curriculum.
  • Experience working in one of the following fields: human resources, talent acquisition, human capital development, career development or career training.

Preferred

  • Nonprofit workforce development or experience working with environmental justice communities, low income, and diverse communities to increase access into the workforce.
  • External partner workforce development relationship collaboration and management
  • Contract management, as well as program development and performance tracking
  • Successful program and project delivery

Education:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and or Business, related discipline, or equivalent experience in leu of having a degree
  • Master’s Degree preferred
