Eversource Energy Senior Data Engineer (Hybrid) in Westwood, Massachusetts

As a member of Eversource’s Advanced Modeling and Forecasting team, you will help to influence, to shape, and to optimize billions of dollars of grid investments over the next decade, ensuring our safe and effective transition into a clean energy future while providing highest standards of reliability and resiliency. The team strives for "best in class" data, analytics, and application practices, to help Eversource build the most advanced Distributed Energy Resources (DER) forecasting in the nation from the ground up.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building and optimizing our data infrastructure to support our growing data needs. You will work with cross-functional teams to build and maintain robust and efficient data pipelines. By building a best-in-class electric distribution system analytics hub for actionable insights, you will drive strategic decision-making; around capital infrastructure investments, regulatory and rate case engagements, reliability and resiliency investments, and more. Your team members are data scientists and engineers who develop forecast models for electric vehicles, heat pumps and other new load and generation resources to inform Eversource’s capital investments.

Essential Functions:

  • DataPipelines:design, develop, maintainETL processes tomove data from various sourcesto a centralized system +

Data Architecture:implement solutions to support data storage and processingrequirements

DataModels: design andimplement data modelsand schemasoptimizedfor reporting and analytics

Dashboard Integration:integrate data sources, buildconnectionsand developefficient dashboardsfor visualization

Data Quality:Data cleaning, validation, error handling to detect and correct data inconsistencies

Collaboration: Understand stakeholder data requirements and provide necessary toolsand data transformationsto performmodelingor analysis

DataMining:Work with stakeholders tocollect, preprocess, and evaluate the data todeterminesuitability foranalysis

DataSecurity:Implement controls to protectivesensitive data,comply withrelevant company and industry standards

Communication:Clearlydocumentdevelopment effortsand work with other departments tointegratenew and existingprocesses

Innovation: Evaluate and recommendnew technologiesand frameworks to improvedata infrastructure andcapabilities

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Technical Knowledge/Skill:

  • Proficient in SQLandrelational databases(e.g.SQL Server,Oracle)
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages (e.g.Python)
  • Familiar with cloud platforms and services (e.g.Azure, Databricks),deployingand managing data infrastructure in the cloud
  • Experienced in data modelsand integration with dashboard tools (e.g.PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Experience with big data technology and frameworks (e.g.Spark)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skillsto work inacross-functional environment
  • Problem solving skills to analyze and debug complex data issues

Education:

  • Bachelor'sorMaster’sdegreeinComputer Science,Engineering orrelatedquantitativefield

Experience :

  • 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.

The ideal candidate will have experience with:                      

  • Working withGIS data,SCADA data,PI System,and/orAMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure)
  • Knowledge of data science andmachine learningconcepts and experience with model deployment
  • Designing and building APIs for data connectivity
  • Toolsfordevelopment work (e.g.Jira, version control systems)

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment asrequired.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NHas necessary.

Compensation and Benefits:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is
