Brief Posting Description
Tri-State is a power utility providing electricity to rural electric cooperatives. We have anIntern vacancy available for the 2020 summer in our Beneficial Electrification group. Students who have successfully completed their junior year towards a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Economics or Business from an accredited college or university program are encouraged to apply.
This position offers a student hands on opportunity to assist with the beneficial electrification programs for an electric utility involving researching, analyzing and modeling various programs that reduce emissions and/or lower energy costs for residential, commercial/industrial and farming/ranching customers.
Work scope :
- Intern will work with Beneficial Electrification staff on activities related to researching, analyzing and modeling beneficial electrification programs for the use of electricity by various customers which reduce emissions caused by the use of fossil fuels and provide cost efficient energy.
Expected Outcomes :
- Gain knowledge and experience in assisting with researching, analyzing and modeling programs that are beneficial to electricity consumers regarding emissions and energy cost efficiency.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
Knowledge, Skills and Ability:
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work well with a variety of people; strong verbal and written communications skills; strong organizational skills; strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Experience and/or familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, and possibly Matlab.
INTERNSHIP DURATION AND WORK SCHEDULE :
The duration of this summer position will be from about mid-May until mid-August (flexible depending on the student's start/end of semester). The work schedule is Monday through Friday, forty hours/week.
