Job Summary

Millstone Power Station is currently seeking an Engineering Technical Specialist II to analyze various types of diagnostic test results on nuclear plant equipment. These diagnostics include Thermography, Check Valve Acoustic Testing, Vibration Analysis, Ultrasonic Flow Measurement, Ventilation Airflow Testing, and Oil Analysis. Provides technical assistance through analytical conclusions obtained from data, monitoring, and trending. Reviews test results for conformance to technical and operating specifications. Responsible for duties such as: updating and maintaining logs, records and files, evaluating test data and developing analysis, assisting in troubleshooting component problems, and providing input to preventive maintenance programs. In-plant data collection will be required during mentorship to learn the various plant equipment, instruments, and software.

This position is the second level in a developmental series, this role is responsible for providing technical or engineering support in designated company areas or to specific engineering disciplines. Distinguished from the Technical Specialist I by the increased responsibility in the application of technical or engineering skills and knowledge. The incumbent is capable of completing routine assignments and tasks with limited supervision and direction. Under the supervision of a supervisor or work leader, performs engineering or technical calculations, analysis, research and design to further develop professional knowledge and abilities and to provide technical support in designated company area or specialized function. This may include analyzing and evaluating systems, equipment, process improvements, and programs for assurance that they are modified, operated, and maintained in accordance with Company policy and procedure and regulatory requirements. This role does not function as a technician in modifying, operating or maintaining systems or equipment. Requires sufficient experience to have developed expertise in the area.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years demonstrated work experience in data collection, diagnostics, and analysis of Thermography, Check Valve Acoustics, Vibration, Ultrasonic Flow, Ventilation Airflow, and Oil Analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in performing diagnostics with good analytical and problem solving skills, using data from diverse sources.

  • Ability to effectively interpret and communicate technical findings.

  • Data collection qualifications, knowledge, or understanding in the above areas with demonstrated analysis and interpretation abilities.

  • Sufficient knowledge, technical expertise and work experience to perform essential duties of the job.

  • Basic knowledge of operation, maintenance and technical design applications.

  • Knowledge of the design and operation of moderate to complex systems and equipment.

  • Knowledge of industry codes, government regulations and company policies and practices.

  • Working knowledge in the operation and application of personal computers and software programs.

  • Good oral and written communication skills to include basic technical writing skills.

  • Ability to apply, with limited guidance, engineering theories and concepts to effectively address problems.

  • Analytical and abstract thinking skills.

  • Ability to problem solve and to quickly process information.

  • Ability to interpret industry codes, regulations and practices with general supervision.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks.

  • Project management skills.

Education Requirements

Degree or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated related experience may be accepted in lieu of

preferred level of education

Associate degree in related technical/mechanical discipline
