Edison Electric Institute Full-Stack .NET Developer in Washington, District Of Columbia

Overview

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the association that represents all U.S. investor-owned electric companies, has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-Stack .NET Developer in its Employment Testing Department. As part of a major trade association, you will find yourself among self-motivated professionals with a wide range of competencies addressing a variety of issues critical to our members and to our entire economy. Our office is in the prestigious and lively Penn Quarter neighborhood of downtown D.C., directly on Pennsylvania Avenue at the Archives metro station. Our environment is professional, with offices instead of cubicles, and we offer excellent benefits, independence, growth opportunity, meaningful work, and respect for work-life balance.

EEI’s Employment Testing Department manages a pre-employment testing program for the industry, providing employment tests and related services to over 60 electric companies across the country. We are a small team of employment testing experts and developers who work hand in hand to ensure we can meet our customers’ employment testing needs. Our new team member on the development side needs to arrive ready and willing to hit the ground running, take ownership of projects, interact directly with customers and other stakeholders, and commit to continuous learning and improvement. As part of our tight-knit, dedicated team, you will have the opportunity to wear many hats and develop a broad range of professional competencies. In this role, you will never be a small cog in a big machine. Instead, you will be an essential team member from day one, whose contributions will be visible and vital to our success.

The Full-Stack .NET Developer will design, develop, test, document, and maintain secure .NET applications, including back-end databases and web front-ends; integrate third-party solutions as necessary; assist in system administration; provide high-level customer support and troubleshooting; work with internal and external stakeholders, including member company HR and IT professionals and third-party vendors; apply deep technical expertise, continuous learning, and personal initiative to improve the department’s technical operations; keep pace with evolving standards and best practices; provide direct input into strategic decisions; and amaze our customers with compelling results.

Qualifications

The successful applicant will have:

  • Three years of experience in software development, demonstrating increased responsibility including a lead role in delivering a successful .NET web solution.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. A Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field may be substituted with a combination of certifications and additional experience demonstrating strong aptitude, initiative, and success in delivering excellent software solutions.

  • Knowledge of the following: full-stack; full-cycle development of secure .NET web solutions; C# programming and related technologies (Visual Studio, MS Build, etc.); relational database (MS SQL) design, programming and management; web design and programming, and related technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XML, Json, Ajax, etc.); DevOps technologies (source control, testing, automated builds, deployment, etc.); secure software design and coding principles, and Azure PaaS and Agile development methodologies.

  • A software security certification is not required but a strong advantage.

  • Experience operating in a small team with cross-functional responsibilities embracing the entire software lifecycle, from initial requirements to maintenance and administration of the product developed over several release cycles.

  • Experience in software integration.

  • Experience in development of IT solutions involving secure and sensitive data is preferred.
