Edison Electric Institute Communications Internship in Washington, District Of Columbia

Overview

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is seeking a talented and committed intern to join the Communications & Member Engagement team this summer. The dates of this internship are June through mid-August and requires a commitment of 21-35 hours per week.

EEI is the trade association for all U.S. investor-owned electric companies. Our office is located in the heart of Penn Quarter, on Pennsylvania Avenue between the U.S. Capitol Building and the White House.

This is a paid internship.

  • Undergraduate Students: $20 per hour

  • Graduate Students: $25 per hour

EEI’s Communications & Member Engagement team engages broadly across the organization. The team oversees external communications, which includes public policy, executive, and strategic communications; thought leadership; social media and digital strategy; and media relations. The team also writes, edits, and produces various publications and develops key messages for EEI and the electric power industry. In addition, the team provides direct and indirect meeting support for several departments.

This is a great opportunity for a student working towards a degree in Communications, Journalism, Writing, or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development of new content for use across EEI's various communications channels (website, digital Electric Perspectives platform, newsletter, and social media channels).

  • Provide support to the Communications & Member Engagement team in preparation for EEI's annual meeting.

  • Assist with editing event content to amplify industry messaging.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Enrolled in, or having recently completed, an undergraduate or graduate program with a focus in Communications, Journalism, Writing, or related area.

  • Accuracy, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple work streams, ability to complete tasks on time, self-motivation.

  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.

  • Ability and desire to learn.

Preferences

  • Prior experience working in an office environment.

This is a hybrid position which requires the incumbent to reside in the District of Columbia metropolitan area for the duration of the internship and come into the office a minimum of three days each week.
