National Grid is hiring an Enterprise Cloud Architect for our Enterprise Architecture Department in Waltham, MA.

Translate strategies into target architectures and roadmaps; articulate and evangelize design/architectural roadmaps across the organization.
Define current enterprise architecture, and identify issues or disruptive technologies within it
Refine and/or redesign and develop reference architecture to meet the organization's changing business requirements.
Define and manage a review process to evaluate project proposals for architectural fit via the Architecture Review Board, ensuring the consistency and compliancy of architecture deliverables across the enterprise.
Be involved in the development of policies, standards, and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation, and use of cloud technology within the enterprise.
Participate in architecture definition for Cloud Initiatives utilizing industry best practices and technologies as a strategic thought leader in Cloud principles, patterns and reference architectures
Define Cloud platform reference architectures and patterns Cloud application reference architectures and patterns
Technical evaluations of Cloud technologies including cloud application services and tools
Specification and publication of standards for Cloud platform usage and operations
Work with the enterprise architecture, Cloud solution architecture and infrastructure teams to define the cloud platform strategy for the enterprise
Define Cloud architecture strategies and approaches to advance enterprise Cloud initiatives
Partner with EA, domain architects and technology stakeholders to define and implement capabilities and patterns for security, data and operations in the Cloud
Provide recommendations on system options, risks, cost/benefit analysis, and impact on cross-domain systems business strategy, goals and processes.
Partner with extended enterprise architecture, information security, compliance, business, and IT support teams to communicate and collaborate on architecture strategies, standards, and direction.
Partner with domain architects and solution architects to design and implement automation capabilities for cloud platform provisioning, configuration, deployment, security operations and audit.
Technical evaluations and benchmarking of core infrastructure technologies including Cloud providers, network architectures, and storage platforms
Specification and publication of standards around infrastructure configuration (network elements, servers, Cloud environments)
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Build long term relationships with senior leaders and managers within the HR and Group functions business domain
Build relationships with IT and 3rdparty suppliers influencing the direction-of IT strategy in support of your business entity outcomes
Influence, develop, support and endorse significant architecture direction and decisions across major change programs ranging from £1M - £100M
Horizon scan for new technology, vendors and services assess their potential and value
Be a technology and change evangelist who continually develops their skills and knowledge
10+ years’ experience with software engineering and architecture ·
5+ years’ experience working with cloud platforms and technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) ·
Experience developing reference architectures, patterns, guidelines and technology standards ·
Extensive experience of providing architectural direction to project development teams or equivalent combination of education and work experience ·
Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities ·
Track record of designing architectural reference material ·
Extensive experience of providing architectural direction to technical teams ·
Bachelor's Degree Required in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
