National Grid is hiring a Senior Stakeholder Engagement Specialist in Waltham, MA..

Job Purpose

The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Jurisdictions and other internal stakeholders and provide technical pipeline safety communication and education support associated with the Companies Pipeline Safety Public Awareness Program. More specifically, this technical communication and outreach role involves direct contact with City, Town, local emergency response organizations as well as other public and private entities including associated Trade groups. The individual establishes and develops relationships with municipalities, emergency response units as well as other public and private organizations with regard to gas pipeline safety public awareness and on occasion where applicable provide support in discussing technical aspects of overlapping electric public safety issues and awareness; provides direction and leads efforts to ensure the company’s gas and electric public safety and awareness engagement initiatives are communicated appropriately.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with City, Town, and local police and fire departments.

  • Work collaboratively with the Jurisdictional Team and operational teams and provide technical point of contact / focal point for assisting with education services for gas pipeline safety programs / concerns.

  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with internal departments, such as Learning and Development, Gas Operations, Electric Operations, Emergency Planning, Government Relations and the Jurisdictional teams and provide assistance and guidance as it pertains to gas and electric safety awareness.

  • Maintain knowledge of all aspects of the Pipeline Safety Public Awareness Program as well as current and emerging regulatory issues affecting the industry including as a minimum API RP-1162.

  • Balance the needs of the City, Town, local police and fire departments and other emergency response agencies with National Grid’s interests.

  • Work closely with allied trade organizations, Gas Marketing and Materials & Standards teams to engage and educate trades (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Construction, Demolition, Landscaping, Excavators etc.).

  • Work closely with all emergency response agencies and other municipal / public entities to identify gas and electric safety awareness gaps and work collaboratively with the Jurisdictions and Emergency Preparedness organizations.

  • Working with the Jurisdictional Team, represent the company in a pipeline safety technical capacity in meetings with City, Town and other public / private entities including school administrators, municipal construction leaders and their excavation contractors, housing and building department program leaders regarding their concerns with gas and electric public safety.

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Experience of developing working relationships across all levels of the organization and externally with customers and stakeholders.

  • Experience of customer and stakeholder engagement strategies.

  • Previous experience in a customer facing role would be advantageous.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent 5 years of operational experience.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft products including: Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SharePoint

  • General Knowledge of National Grid's gas business operations, company policies and practices and pipeline safety rules, regulations and code compliance.

  • Valid Driver's license
