National Grid Senior Analyst – Energy Accounting in Waltham, Massachusetts
_About the Position:_
Finance Operation, Senior Analyst, Energy Efficiency Accounting is responsible for performing Energy Efficiency accounting functions by reviewing, verifying and reconciling accounts. Captures accounting transactions using financial systems. Responsible for identifying and remediating accounting discrepancies to produce accurate and credible financial information.
Reports to the Manager, Energy Efficiency, and is responsible for producing accurate and credible results.
_Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):_
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a sense of ownership over assigned areas and tasks, and have a strong desire to learn and grow professionally within the organization.
Verifies, reconciles and updates accounts by reviewing discrepancies to produce accurate and credible data.
Monitors and reports net income, balance sheet and variances against budget and historical data to identify anomalies or discrepancies and ensure information are accurate and credible.
Prepares, records and processes accounting transactions and ensures allocation to appropriate accounts for accurate and credible data.
Creates and maintains General Ledger Accounting needs for Energy Efficiency.
Establishes and accounts for based on energy consumption and costs.
Supports month-end accounting close process to ensure timely, accurate and complete accrual of financial transactions.
Responsible for completing month-end accounting activities to ensure timely filling and account for any variances.
Reviews accounts and calculates financial adjustments and ensures proper account reconciliation.
Responsible for following US GAAP, SOX and other accounting standards.
Assembles and reviews supporting documentation and resolves any concerns to ensure compliance with audits.
Compiles and reviews financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts for the preparation of filling and reporting.
Ensures maintenance of financial records for compliance with accepted policies and procedures.
Responsible for meeting financial fillings and reporting deadlines.
Responsible for supporting financial and non-financial controls to meet business requirements.
_Knowledge & Experience Required:_
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred with experience in accounting function
Ability to use accounting systems
Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the COSO Internal Control – Integrated Framework
Knowledge of utility service business activities and projects preferred
Ability to review and resolve data discrepancies
Ability to identify accounting issues and recommend solutions
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent written / oral communication skills and follow-up
