About the Graduate Development Program
National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is an in-depth training and development program for high achieving recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry.Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 8-week Orientation which gives you exposure to all part of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US.
Following Orientation, Graduates begin working in their hired position. Additionally, all Graduates will develop leadership skills through quarterly development session and a Capstone Project at the completion of your first year with National Grid. You will meet amazing individuals, both within our organization and local communities and will be assigned a mentor who will provide guidance and insight to help you start and progress in your career.
_About the Position:_
Successful candidates will support business development, acquisitions, disposals and corporate restructuring with high quality business analysis and project management that supports of National Grid’s U.S. operating businesses.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Plan and lead detailed financial and business analysis of strategic initiatives and business transactions. Bring an understanding of market dynamics and strategic context into the detailed financial modelling, taking account of regulatory, cost management, market developments, tax and other factors
Contribute to the development of valuation modelling tools and techniques. Keep abreast of latest market valuation techniques in the market and understand implications for how we should carry out valuation.
Support company divestiture/restructuring processes, contract negotiation and successful transition of disposal candidates/ assets.
Manage multidisciplinary teams with your strong influencing and project management skills to ensure timely and accurate delivery of work.
Successful candidates have an opportunity to sharpen skills related to strategy development, finance, accounting, analysis and communication skills while learning about the operating businesses.
Bachelor or Master’s degree in finance or related management consulting from an accredited institution
Prior M&A or related financial analysis and strategic management consulting preferred
Knowledge of utility and regulatory finance and accounting preferred.
Self starter with a desire to learn and grow; Experience dealing with multiple priorities and limited resources, along with good self-motivation and time management skills.
Ability to effectively interface and communicate with people at all levels and across organizational boundaries and ability to earn trust and respect of senior management team.
Demonstrated work ethic and personal initiative that includes internal and external customer focus, flexibility and teamwork combined with strong personal accountability for delivering on commitments.
Graduated between May 2018 and May 2019
Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; official college transcript required for confirmation
Proven communication and leadership skills including ability to comprehend and explain in simple terms highly complex information.
Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program June 3, 2019
Valid driver’s license with safe driving history
Proficient with MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
Proven leadership experience in at least/one/of the following:
o College leadership position (e.g., student government, clubs, athletics).
o Leadership and/or volunteer experience, in and/or out of the college environment
o Experienced a full or part-time job while at college and acquired relevant work experience
