National Grid Director, Integrated Analytics in Waltham, Massachusetts

_About the Position:_

To lead the Integrated Analytics function within Regulatory Strategy & Integrated Analytics, including directing and conducting economic and financial analysis and evaluation of the business case for company initiatives, providing input into regulatory strategy development.

_Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):_

  • Keep regulators up to date and informed on National Grid matters pertaining to cost of capital and return on equity in order to maintain the relationship and ensure effective communication and information flow.

  • Contribute to the identification and formulation of regulatory strategy in order to drive change and innovation within National Grid. This includes monitoring trends and conducting necessary analyses that input into creation of the strategy and providing stakeholders with detailed analyses to support decision-making.

  • Contribute subject matter expertise on financial/capital-related matters for rate case filings, interrogatories and other regulatory proceedings in order to ensure quality and consistency of the analysis and responses across the company.

  • Make informed, authoritative capital/financial-related recommendations, providing guidance to other functions/business units within National Grid in order to improve business performance, in particular the maximization of returns and earnings, in the medium and longer term.

  • Provide financial and operational impact analysis related to financial trending of corporate entities and jurisdictions to assist in the determination of regulatory strategies and improved financial results for NGUSA in the medium and long term.

  • Proactively build and maintain internal and external networks in order to keep current on changes in the economy, financial markets, regulatory policies, approaches / methodologies related to cost of equity and capital structure, applying all this knowledge and best practices to own area of responsibility.

  • Motivate, coach and develop a direct team of ACE analysts in order to inspire commitment and engagement and improve efficiency, effectiveness and long term performance.

*Knowledge & Experience Required:*

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance / Economics or equivalent experience; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

  • Requires previous experience in corporate finance or strategy across a variety of industries with a focus on utilities.

  • This role typically requires a minimum of 7 years experience.

  • Has in-depth knowledge and deep professional experience in regulation and strategy and demonstrates deep understanding of the issues impacting the energy industry sector.

  • Is recognized as a credible and knowledgeable expert of US regulation and the utilities industry and builds collaborative networks across multiple geographies and sites.

  • Demonstrates in-depth working knowledge of financial modeling, financial and business case analysis and development with expert problem solving, strategic and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrates the ability to translate National Grid policies into processes and procedures and peel back multiple layers of a problem and balance the value of different solutions; understands how best to utilize them in order to drive greater performance, taking into account the wider business context.

  • Strong project management skills with experience managing and integrating the work of a functional team. Demonstrates the ability to provide direction, the appropriate structure and effective resourcing to enable the team to deliver high performance.

  • Demonstrates strong negotiation, influencing and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to make persuasive presentations to small and large audiences. Consistently adapts the content / style of a message, based on an understanding of the climate and culture of a particular group and what will produce the best response.

  • Oversight of specialists and assigned ACE Resources. The number of direct reports is variable and will adjust based on workload demands
