South Jersey Industries Sr. Rates Analyst in United States

Basic Function:

Performs a variety of staff duties relating to the administration of departmental activities. Creates financial models to support analytics and scenario planning related to the Company’s rates and revenue requirements. Analyzes, evaluates and develops the company’s rates. Prepares reports and schedules for the Company’s Board of Public Utility filings. Designs, develops, administers and interprets the company’s tariff.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, economics or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.

Minimum of five years experience in rates, utility accounting and/or related financial field.

Ability to analyze and prepare financial statements and projections as required.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.

Advanced Microsoft Office skill level, specifically Excel.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare all analyses which utilize corporate financial/accounting data to develop ratemaking applications.

  • Design, develop, administer and interpret the company’s tariff.

  • Create financial models to support scenario planning analytics to develop rates.

  • Determine the impact of rate activities on customer bills and company financials.

  • Support the sales team by providing New Business Analysis (NBA).

  • Perform various ad hoc analyses, interpret results and present in a concise manner.

  • Assist in the preparation of testimony and supporting exhibits for all NJBPU filings and sponsor such testimony as required.

  • Prepare short and long-range revenue projections related to various rate matters.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of the company’s tariff and BPU regulations.

  • Implement and execute all policies and procedures affecting the department’s activities.

  • Initiate effective communication regarding all departmental matters with corporate management.

  • Keep abreast of developments related to market trends, energy pricing and supplies and regulatory activities.

  • Maintain an ongoing positive working relationship with regulatory agency employees. Monitor communications related to rate matters and keep abreast of current regulatory developments related to the company’s activities in the State Regulatory environment.

  • Perform duties inherent in all supervisory, professional, and administrative positions. Consistent with all positions in this classification, additional projects, tasks and/or duties beyond what is outlined here may be assigned as required.
