Supports affiliate Operating Company critical infrastructure/major projects as the Procurement and Commercial lead. Mentors junior colleagues in Purchasing and lends experience and knowledge to assist others in the department and the business. Administers the competitive bidding process for large and complex projects valued at up to several hundred million dollars. Selects suppliers and manages corresponding partnerships for all Avangrid operating companies. Drive cost reduction initiatives, customer service levels, generate reports and other initiatives across the enterprise. Perform other duties assigned by management.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

  1. Excellent communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical and commercial information in English (and Spanish would be a plus), the position will interact daily with Engineering Directors/Managers, Procurement Officials and other Company Leaders located in Spain and the US.

    2: Experienced/knowledgeable in projects for Conventional Energy Generation, Electrical Transmission (both AC and DC) and Distribution, Gas Transmission, some familiarity with Renewable Energy Generation would be an advantage.

    3: Working knowledge of the Global Market for Electrical Equipment and Materials with proven record negotiating contracts with Global OEMs in international environment.

    4: Ability to understand and interpret advanced technical specifications and have the ability to influence those specifications in order to obtain the best available market conditions and cost effectiveness and make decisions based on a pool of variables including best available technology at minimum required investment.

    5: Experience working with Business Development in competitive processes through stablishing partnerships with strategic Manufacturers and Contractors, providing detail pricing input, identifying efficiencies to reduce cost and negotiating terms and conditions.

  2. Experienced executing and developing the Procurement Sourcing Strategies for Gas Construction, Hydro Generation, Smart Grids Automation and Infrastructure, Distribution Materials (MRO), Steel and Wood Poles, Electric Equipment (Reclosers, Voltage Regulators, SCADA Switches, Relays, etc…). Electric Construction including Transmission, Distribution, Substation and Civil works, Engineering, Project Management, Energy Efficiency and Retail programs. The Sourcing Manager can make decisions based on a pool of variables including best available technology at minimum required investment, leading and coordinating local efforts in the US on behalf of the Global Procurement Organization. Ensure that these strategies capture the best available technology, while meeting critical internal timelines at the lowest possible TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), ensuring compliance with the business needs, internal QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety & Environment), and procurement policies.

  3. Leads cross-functional affiliate teams to drive procurement initiatives and improve bottom line performance. This includes participation in Global teams, RFP’s and initiatives with other Iberdrola businesses as necessary. Centralizes the procurement function for all affiliates and solicits assistance from subject matter experts (while also being a subject matter expert), and others within the business, as required.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    Education & Experience Required :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Economics, or relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience; or Master’s Degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business, Economics, or relevant field with a minimum of 3 years of applicable experience

    Certifications:

  • C.P.M., C.P.S.M, or equivalent certifications or working toward achievement is welcome.

    Background & Skills:

  • Stakeholder and audience savvy , Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills (including the ability to create organized, concise and compelling relevant materials).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing economic evaluation for the procurement of multimillion dollar projects, equipment and services (desired experience in the Utility/Energy sector).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience using Excel for Economic Evaluation, scenario analysis, data simplification and pattern identification. Proficient in Microsoft Office package (Excel, Powerpoint, Word).

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience (proficiency) in SAP for data collection

  • Effective at producing and summarizing relevant information effectively and quickly to help drive Top Management review and decision making.

  • Highly collaborative approach to problem solving and planning. Passion for working in a multicultural team.

  • Group facilitation-ability to plan, orchestrate, and manage small group meetings to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across multifunctional teams and with senior management

  • Ability to handle deadlines and high stress situations.

  • Experience in Gas Transmission Projects, Electricity Generation projects, Electricity Transmission Projects

  • Experience in Project Management, Project Engineering, business Development highly desired.

    Avangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and in the event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their regular schedule/job duties. This is applicable to employees that will work in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York within AVANGRD Network and Corporate functions.
