This role is primarily responsible for providing support and contribution into developing and implementing expectations, strategies, objectives, initiatives and measures pertaining to NERC Compliance.
This is the third level of the NERC Compliance Analyst classification hierarchy. Employees at this level manage work in multiple areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are fully competent in use of concepts and procedures. They identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve.
Duties and Responsibilities:
NERC Compliance Program
Provides support and contributes to the on-going strategy of the NERC Compliance program to meet regulatory and company requirements.
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of NERC Compliance controls, regulatory matters, security, business applications, critical infrastructure.
Provides support towards consultation, interpretation, administration, and implementation of contractual, regulatory, and reliability documents.
Composes responses to legal and regulatory inquiries.
Knowledgeable and proficient in use of tools and procedures for the NERC Compliance program.
Serves as an interface between team members, business units, support groups, corporate areas, contractors, and vendors to ensure appropriate communication and problem resolution.
Plans and performs large complex individual assignments, or leads small projects
Assists project manager with developing project work breakdown structures and estimates for completion
Identifies and resolves complex project issues
Serves as a team leader and provides direction to project team
Performs technical project work as needed to complete project deliverables
Process and Controls Awareness
In-depth knowledge of NERC CIP Compliance policy, standards, processes and controls.
Executes, defines and recommends direction for internal and NERC CIP Compliance functional processes and procedures.
In-depth knowledge of NERC CIP Compliance processes and resources
Able to measure and identify areas for improvement
Provides input on process improvements to NERC CIP Compliance program.
Customer Relationship Management
Provides good customer support to deliver compliance results to internal and external parties
Consults with and informs customers regarding regulatory and/or compliance matters.
Communicates problems and resolutions to management and/or customers
Coordinates necessary meeting forums and subject matter to communicate compliance requirements
Proactively engages in training and development programs to improve and maintain job performance and promote professional growth and development.
Motivates program and project participants to work as a cohesive team within their work unit, department, and company to meet the needs and expectations of corporate compliance program and processes.
In-depth knowledge of NERC Compliance and its impact on business operations and support functions
Bachelors in Computer Science or Engineering
In addition to required degree, four (4) years minimum of related work experience
In lieu of Bachelors degree and four (4) years minimum of related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND eight (8) years of related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience with at least 2 years NERC CIP Compliance experience
Experience with audit skills, controls, security and related industry regulatory issues
Demonstrates good listening skills and puts forth the effort to understand others points of view
Has the ability to manage confidential information with a high degree of integrity
Responds well to supervisors, is easy to challenge and develop, and is easily coachable
Able to work effectively with broadly defined direction requiring a great degree of judgment; recognizes appropriate times to raise issues and provide status updates.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direct supervision or review
Demonstrated excellent listening and communication skills; able to present complex information in an understandable manner both verbal and written to multiple levels of the organization including department management as well as regulatory entities and other utility representatives
Demonstrated ability to absorb change and continue with positive results
Exhibits confidence and a proper level of assertiveness when needed; displays maturity in approach and ability to effectively handle stress and frustration
- Must pass a personnel risk assessment including 7-year background screening and annual cyber security training
- Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to a Duke Energy facility
