Position provides technical guidance, review and approval of engineering work and engineering support to maintain the safe and reliable operation of the Company’s electric transmission and distribution systems under normal, maintenance and emergency operating conditions.
Provide guidance and technical information to Operators, operating staff, and other engineering areas for planned maintenance outages and emergency outage conditions including after hour availability and storm duty.
Validate network model database and utilize energy management/control system analysis tools (state estimator, dispatcher load flow & contingency analysis) to evaluate reliability impacts of proposed & actual transmission and generation outages, and select and recommend operating alternatives necessary to meet reliability objectives.
Review, validate and correct operating information included on real time operating displays and for Substation Operating Instructions so that accurate operating information is utilized.
Represent Company on ISO committees and at other industry organizations. Ensure and recommend issues that enable efficient and reliable operation of Company’s electric power system.
Skills and Requirements
Education & Experience Required:
• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Technology or related field of study.
• A minimum of 5 years of related experience is preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of transmission system operations, energy control system operations, power system network model content, use of load flow tools for electric power system network analysis, and load forecasting is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Results and proactive oriented.
• Effective communication (writing, listening, speaking), interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Team player and a high level of attention to detail.
