The Natural Gas Scheduler will be responsible for economically scheduling gas for our generation, storage, and pipeline assets. The scheduler will create and submit nominations to enable the flow of our physical natural gas trades. Daily balancing of receipt points and delivery points to optimize cashouts and imbalance charges will be required. Physical position reports will be maintained by the scheduler for internal and external distribution. The scheduler will monitor the EBBs for constraints, maintenance, and expansion projects that could effect the flow and valuation of our assets. Trading in the cash markets to may be required as appropriate. There will be off-hour and weekend duties.

You must be eligible to work in the US independent of company sponsorship.

  • Natural Gas Scheduling – schedule and balance pipelines, LDCs, and storage operators primarily in the Mid-Atlantic and New England regions. Responsible for ensuring that all scheduling functions (i.e. nominations, balancing, confirmations, etc.) take place in an accurate and timely manner. Monitor pipeline flows and notices to optimize our assets and ensure reliable deliveries.

  • Record and Reconcile Natural Gas Flows – schedule, balance, and actualize all physical natural gas flows in the internal ETRM to meet our natural gas accounting and billing requirements. Maintain and improve spreadsheets to manage contractual movements of natural gas flows. Resolve all differences in a timely manner to limit financial exposure.

  • Knowledge of Pipelines – become knowledgeable of the operations of the pipelines and LDCs including, but not limited to, constraints, interconnects, balancing rules, tariff rates, discount opportunities, OBAs, cashout rates. Monitor future pipeline expansions.

  • Communication – develop and maintain trusted partnerships with all parties in the supply chain including third party schedulers, traders, pipeline representatives, and internal personnel. Inform traders of daily positions and assist in balance optimization.

  • Natural Gas Trading – develop strategies and execute trades according to those strategies for the portfolio of assets under management: generation assets, transportation assets, and storage assets. Trading will primarily occur in the northeast natural gas cash markets. Enter each transaction in a timely and accurate manner and ensure the proper handling of each trade from execution to invoice settlement.


  • Four year business or technical degree preferred.

  • Other college degree with relevant work experience considered.


  • At least 2 years of Physical Natural Gas experience required.

  • Power experience would be a plus.


  • Good time management and adherence to deadlines.

  • Good technical, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Keen attention to detail.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to follow procedures.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet development (Excel/Access).

  • Ability to manage many simultaneous activities.

  • Will be required to participate in a weekend and off-hour on call rotation.
