South Jersey Industries Facilities Project Coordinator in Union, New Jersey

Position Summary

A career in Facilities will provide the opportunity to be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the physical plant at SJI and all subsidiary buildings and surrounding land to ensure the public and employees are provided with safe, clean and professional environment to perform the services required. Involves supporting corporate organizations in space planning consistent with prudent industry practices and developing strategic and capital programs to support the vision and mission of SJI. The role also involves coordination with the planning, engineering, construction and maintenance of company facilities, both owned and leased.Roles within Facilities are responsible for examining all decisions on risk management issues pertaining to facilities that directly impact the strategic direction of the company. This involves overseeing policies, processes, people and systems, partnering with business leaders to identify and mitigate financial, operational, legal, regulatory and reputational risks that pertain to facilities management. Roles within this group work on developing and conducting risk assessments, documenting processes, workflows, recommendations and field work. Within SJI, this includes overseeing other areas encompassing Risk, Facilities, Security, Environmental and Insurance. *This position will develop short term facilities plans for maintenance for 6 buildings in the Central New Jersey area. Travel to these locations is a vital part of the job.

Roles and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Overseeing Maintenance on all capital projects

  • Performing (under some supervision) assigned tasks that support day-to-day activities and project goals space and facilities planning • Following appropriate methods and techniques in

  • Collaborating with supervisory personnel to develop the budget of projects

  • Recommending alternatives, examining new methods and techniques and possibly proactively seeking out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems

  • Participating in group meetings. Possibly presenting results of work, interpreting data, and drawing conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work

This role will develop professional expertise and apply company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. You will work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. It is expected that you will exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Additionally, you will build productive internal/external working relationships.It is expected that your role applies intermediate level skills to projects or assignments within own group/project team. You will receive general instructions on routine work and receive detailed instructions on new projects or assignments. Your role typically reports to Managers.Additionally, the level and nature of interaction of your role includes:Working under direct guidance on a component of a project, interacting primarily within the job family


  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or;

  • Master’s degree with 0 years of relevant experience.

  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Valid Drivers License is required
