Job Summary

CenterPoint Energy is looking for a LCL449 Gas Representative (Union) to join our Texas Gas Team , located in Texas City, TX.

You will have the ability to: perform company field operations which may include; construction, manual labor, installation and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems, repairs on meter installations, connection and disconnection of service, reporting unsafe or illegal conditions, or meter reading.

Essential Functions

  • Secure materials; transport meters; inspect installation sites; attach and align fittings, meters and regulators; test meters; perform leak tests and light pilot light on gas appliances as required.

  • Pinpoint leaks, locate gas lines, and assist in leak detection and repair.

  • Examine gas meter installation and reports any unsafe and/or illegal conditions, such as gas leaks.

  • Complete work order system documentation after installation, including recording the meter serial number and initial indicator readings.

  • Enter work order data using a laptop model computer terminal located within the company vehicle.

  • Inspect residential/commercial buildings to ensure gas valves are closed and gas supplies are capped before installing the meter.

  • Cut pipe and fittings to non-standard lengths and uses tool and die equipment in this process.

  • Operate district regulator stations and town border stations.

  • Change charts and set meters.

Education Description

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED

Experience

  • No prior related work experience required

  • Experience with gas distribution systems preferred
