Position Description The Tacoma Venues & Events Department (TVE) is seeking to hire a full-time employee to participate in the marketing and communication activities of the Tacoma Dome, Greater Tacoma Convention Center, Special Events, and support the Office of Arts & Cultural Vitality. This position is responsible for managing social media channels and digital engagement, including strategic planning, content development and execution. The position manages websites for TVE and its venues. This position creates content and newsletters for internal and external audiences. Work closely with the marketing manager to create and execute marketing plans for events and support communications for special events and arts through content creation and execution. Assist with communications for employee recognition, and lead promotions related to guest engagement at events. The ideal candidate takes pride in creating clever, creative, and effective communications from ideation to execution. They enjoy planning, attention to detail and deadlines, and collaboration. Excellent organizational skills and personal initiative are required traits for the successful candidate. This position will require attendance at a variety of events and functions including evenings, weekends and holidays. Occasional industry-related travel may be available. Ideal Candidate * Manage all digital communications for Tacoma Venues & Events, the Tacoma Dome and Greater Tacoma Convention Center including multiple social media channels, email databases and newsletters, and websites. * Under the guidance of the Marketing Manager, act as liaison to clients to publicize events, place advertising, monitor SEO, and support sales initiatives at the Convention Center. * Support booking office through promotion within the music/events industry, and coordinate marketing for in-house produced events. * Coordinate public relations opportunities including writing and distribution of media releases, community relations, creating content with partners, and serve as media liaison at events. * Support business development with Overlook and Bunker clients, creating proposals and executing sponsorships and cross-promotions. * Assist with planning and execution of internal employee communications. * Complete graphic design projects including digital images, print advertising, posters/flyers, and other content. * Create and execute grassroots and day-of-show promotions for fan engagement. * Support communications for Special Events and the Office of Arts & Cultural Vitality initiatives including the City’s Events & Recognition Committee, Tacoma Creates, Tacoma Arts Month, public arts, and more. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Accounting, Business or Public Administration, Economics, Marketing, Communications, Sports/Venue Management, Broadcasting, Hospitality, or related field and four years’ increasingly responsible experience with marketing, budget, and communications. *SUBSTITUTION: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the education.
