City of Tacoma WA Analytics & Data Management Program Manager in Tacoma, Washington

Position Description Tacoma Power's Utility Technology Services division is looking for an Analytics & Data Management Program Manager to join their team. The Analytics & Data Management Program Manager partners with program stakeholders and executive sponsors to deliver an aggressive analytics strategy & roadmap with multiple dependencies throughout the organization. The program manager will set goals for the data engineering team, monitor performance, develop comprehensive execution plans, drive alignment across the utility, and deliver results across the utility to make better decisions, optimize utility operations, and enhance customer services. This role is responsible for the delivery of the data engineering services and foundational capabilities that enable TPU to capture, ingest, process, service and govern utility data and analytics in a consistent, trusted, and available manner. Responsibilities Include: * Provide technical and supervisory direction of the data engineering practice responsible for construction and maintenance of data pipelines, administration of data lake & data warehousing platforms, and preparing data for analytics use * Facilitate utility data governance for TPU. Organizes, schedules, and chairs the Utility Data Governance Board (UDGB). Works with data stewards to establish data standards. Collaborates with City ITD to update/reconcile utility SAP datasets. Maintains TPU’s business glossary and data governance platform * Produce visualizations, reports, or other analysis as needed for TPU. Organizes and facilitates TPU’s Analytics Community of Practice. Promote analytics collaboration, best practices, and training * Provide technical management of the construction, training and support of utility machine learning models which utilize large utility data sets to model complex abstractions, recognize complex patterns, and gain business insight from unstructured data * Conduct quarterly and annual analytics maturity assessments and peer benchmarking. Set and communicate progress on reaching desired analytics maturity targets * Work with business partners and program sponsors to understand, define, and enable utility analytics use cases and associated benefits * Maintain and foster industry relationships with peer practitioners, trade associations, and vendor communities Qualifications DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with degree in engineering, business management, field of specialty or related discipline or eight years increasingly responsible experience in the utility industry and four years of management/supervisory experience.
