Job Purpose

The Workplan Development and Resource Management (WD&RM) Project Manager is responsible for the operational efficiency and excellence of the Substation Engineering portfolio of work within the Electric Distribution, Sub-Transmission and Transmission Processes.  As a WD&RM Project Manager of the Substation Engineering portfolio, you will provide resource planning and project oversight to prepare and drive a balanced work plan which can be delivered on time, within budget and mandated targets are met. The WD&RM Project Manager builds internal and external relationships to improve customer satisfaction while providing visibility to the work plans.  The WD&RM Project Manager enables the cost-effective planning and delivery of Electric Distribution, Sub-Transmission, and Transmission Substation projects, programs and blankets to achieve overall portfolio performance targets within the New York jurisdiction.
 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Track, report, and monitor project, program, or blanket financials and milestones each month
  • Keep internal and external departments informed of project requirements and schedules using appropriate communication methods including holding monthly meetings
  • Collaborate with Planning and Asset Management to strategize and issue design scopes for the assigned programs and specific projects based on the Company’s strategy
  • Identify and monitor risks to the work plans including major permit issues or restrictions, logistical problems, material issues, and cost constraints or contractual problems and recommend appropriate action
  • Challenge existing processes and continuously seek ways to do things better to drive greater efficiencies for the business
  • Collaborate with RP Project Managers to enable them to build and maintain a rolling 24-month work plan for the specific portfolio in Primavera 6
  • Manage Substation Engineering work plans and implement resource strategies to meet regulatory, budgetary, and jurisdictional goals for the New York distribution electric portfolio
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration within WD&RM and internal stakeholders
  • Produce high level and detailed forecasting models and work schedules to support senior management in defining resource planning strategies 
  • Analyze and monitor resource and financial forecasts within portfolio using project management software (Primavera P6) for optimal work plan delivery
  • Effectively support Operations and company initiatives as required

 

Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required

  • Excellent influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Track record of developing working relationships quickly and effectively.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of project and/or program management experience required
  • Proficiency in project and work management software including Microsoft Office, STORMS and Power Plant preferred
  • Primavera (P6) experience preferred
  • Familiarity with distribution and sub-transmission line engineering, design, permitting, construction, and closeout activities preferred
  • Understanding of jurisdictional process and regulations preferred
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and issues simultaneously
  • Proven strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated sound judgment to independently solve problems and resolve conflicts

 

  • Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline (Sales, Marketing or Engineering)
  • In lieu of degree, minimum of 10 years' work experience in technical sales or HVAC design and installation acceptable
  • 1-2 years related work experience

Salary

$102,000- $120,000 a year
