Job Purpose

The Lead Project Manager provides leadership and clear direction to the Gas Capital Project Delivery teams. It's directly responsible for the delivery, management, and governance of assigned projects in accordance with the National Grid project management processes defined by scope, schedule, and quality.

Key Accountabilities

Manage gas distribution and transmission pipeline, regulator station, and other related asset projects, including new facilities, major additions, replacements, and retrofit projects.

Responsible for leading all aspects of assigned projects, including:

  • Communications and team leadership.

  • Deliver approved scope, cost estimates, schedules, and resource plans.

  • Control of project scope, cost, quality, and schedule parameters/risk management.

  • Compliance with environmental, safety, and National Grid standards and policies.

  • Adherence with all project permits.

  • Project closure activities.

  • Weekly and monthly project reporting.

  • Project forecasting.

  • Assuring project savings.

  • Promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and efficient resource utilization both throughout a network delivery organization. Supporting groups within this organization include Engineering, Operations, Asset Management, Environmental, Resource Coordination, and others.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in project management is required.

  • Bachelor's degree (Master’s degree desirable), preferably in management discipline and/or significant relevant engineering, environmental, and construction experience in all aspects of utility construction operations or 10+ years of relevant work experience.

  • Certified Project Management Professional preferred.

  • Experience with successful delivery of complex projects and possess team leadership skills.

  • Experience with Department of Public Service Article VII Major Electric and Gas Transmission Facilities permitting is strongly preferred.

  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills.

  • A valid driver's license with a safe driving history is required.

More Information

Salary: $123,000 - $145,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
