National Grid Analyst, NY Policy & Evaluation in Syracuse, New York

_About the Position:_

This position is responsible for the budget development of the NY energy efficiency pre-approval filings. Activities include financial analysis, assistance with internal and external audits, regulatory reporting and support of Earning Adjustment Mechanisms. .


_Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):_

  • Maintain, update and edit the budget model used in the development of the Energy Efficiency Transition Implementation Plan (ETIP).

  • Actively participate in energy efficiency planning efforts including development of pre-approval filings.

  • Participate in regulatory efforts related to pre-approval filings, earning adjustment mechanisms, results reporting and preparing responses to information requests. May also include participation and/or support of technical sessions, hearings and other regulatory efforts as required.

  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information.

  • Maintain and provide information such as regulatory information in order to ensure regulators and other stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant National Grid policies, processes and programs.

  • Independently collate and analyze energy efficiency program costs and results in coordination with multiple areas of the organization to support program strategy development and reporting to key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the content within regulatory orders and guidance documents to then interpret and make recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Design and Implement policies and procedures as needed to improve the practices of National Grid at the local and state level.

_Knowledge & Experience Required:_

  • Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance, business, economics or related field and 3 years related work experience.

  • Knowledge of the electric and gas industry; energy efficiency program planning, design, implementation, execution, and evaluation as well as state and national energy policy.

  • Regulatory experience including managing regulatory processes or contributing to regulatory filings.

  • Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation.

  • Demonstrate a high level of personal initiative and ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, and regulatory representatives in a positive collaborative manner.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with discipline and responsibility strengths able to drive action with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints. Bottom-line oriented, budget-conscious, metric/measurement driven.

  • Ability to create a high energy team climate whereby team members are able to discuss relevant issues freely and where there is a strong emphasis on continuous improvement.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders (e.g. both external and internal).

  • Knowledge of National Grid’s business operations, company policies and practices.

  • Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation.

  • Demonstrated skills as a strong communicator with technical writing skills.

  • Ability to provide structure and form around abstract ideas.

  • Advanced Excel skills with proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Outlook.
