The PositionWe are searching for an energetic self-starter to take Columbia Gas of Virginia to the next level in the Suffolk area. We are increasing our focus on adding customers, part of that increased focus is to add the Residential Sales Consultant position. It is a new role created to give potential customers the best experience possible when converting their home to natural gas. You will have the chance to make your mark. What You Will Do:
Meet with homeowners and discuss the benefits of converting to natural gas: saving money, not needing to manage oil or propane deliveries, not running out of hot water, quicker clothes drying, the ability to use natural gas for backup power generation when the power goes out, and who doesnt love cooking with a natural gas stove?
Work within a team environment. Youll regularly work with our marketing, engineering, and construction departments. Youll serve as the face of the company to customers and work to relay customers needs internally.
Provide support for marketing and relationship building activities related to our local plumbing and heating contractor trade ally program. We help connect homeowners to qualified plumbing and heating contractors to install their new gas appliances. This allows plumbing and heating contractors grow their business by being exposed to new customers.
Attend trade shows and other local events promoting natural gas in the community (several times per year).
You Are Great At:
Developing rapport with customers through effective communication.
Going beyond the call of duty to support your team and customers.
Listening to customers to determine their needs and presenting solutions to meet those needs and overcome any obstacles.
Organizing your time to focus on the highest priority activities.
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
Strong negotiation skills and the ability to close deals
Ability to review development site plans, blue prints and associated engineering specifications
Previous sales or customer service experience.
You easily manage customer expectations and deliver great customer service.
You are naturally proactive regularly reaching out to your customers to provide information rather than waiting to respond to them.
