Job Summary:

The position is responsible for performing accounting and clerical tasks which provide timely, efficient and accurate maintenance and processing to support accounts payable and other accounting requirements for the business. This position is expected to understand and adhere to all acceptable company accounting policies and practices. Performs any combination of calculating, posting and verifying duties for applicable accounting functions. May include processing invoices, expense reports and credit card logs. May include issuing payments through various means. May include ensuring payment deadlines are met. May include inputting payroll time entry or other payroll related transactions. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school graduate or GED equivalent.

  2. One year of related experience.

  3. Good analytical and financial skills.

  4. High ethical and moral standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience in a construction industry setting.

Duties and/or Responsibilities

  1. Responsible for compiling and completing payroll on a weekly basis, in addition to, monthly union benefit reporting.

  2. Responsible for review and entry of invoices, expense reports and credit card logs into A/P to ensure accuracy and proper account numbers.

  3. Responsible for sorting, scanning and validating invoices for approval and processing approved invoices for payment by various methods.

  4. Responsible for the reconciliation of credit card and expense report clearing accounts through auditing and review of credit card bills.

  5. Assists in reconciling accounts payable accounts.

  6. Accrue sales tax for all out of state vendors, when necessary.

  7. Track and process inventory items for the business.

  8. Support month end closing tasks as needed

  9. Manage weekly check runs including processing of check requests, securing all required approver signatures, distribution, and notification to Asst. Controller.

  10. Maintain petty cash fund

  11. Manage and maintain 1099 reporting process.

  12. Respond to all vendor inquiries as appropriate.

  13. Assist and train personnel with data entry for accounts payable.

  14. Maintain and process reports as required (i.e., DMV registrations, MCP permits, CHP BIT program, etc.).

  15. Provide accounting assistance to company personnel as needed.

  16. *Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.

  17. *Must maintain confidentiality of financial data.

  18. *Must maintain the highest level of moral and ethical standards at all times.

  19. Perform other duties as assigned.


  1. Proficient computer skills using spreadsheet and accounting software.

  2. Knowledge of accounts payable and maintaining general ledgers and account coding.

  3. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing financial information.

  4. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  5. Highly proficient computer skills using computerized accounting, spreadsheet, or word-processing software.

  6. Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  7. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.

  8. 10 key by touch
