Ameren Senior Network RF Engineer in St. Louis, Missouri

  • Responsible for operations of Ameren's Radio Frequency network systems

  • Performs RF network optimization to improve RAN KPIs

  • Performs activities related to Network Performance, Lifecycle, Reliability and Problem Management

  • Performs activities related to all design aspects of designing a greenfield LTE network

  • Plans, designs and implements networked systems, including configurations

  • Work with site acquisition, construction, and PMO during site deployments

  • Supports/troubleshoots network problems and site deployment problems

  • Researches and evaluates emerging network and communication technology

• Project management using leadership skills of SDLC/Waterfall methodology to direct staff and resolve issues to ensure project goals and requirements are met.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for RF design activities related to building a private LTE network

  • Optimize the end-to-end RF design, propagation modeling and prediction for Macro Cell deployment

  • Review and modify RF link budgets on a per site level basis to meet operations requirements

  • Perform site candidate activities including evaluations, site walks, and selection.

  • Produce site configuration designs for macro cells

  • Review construction close-out packages and perform final checks prior to turning sites on-air

  • Analysis of KPIs, investigation and improvement of Network Quality problems with parameter optimization and site configuration changes

  • Evaluates new and emerging technologies

  • Recommends solutions that address the user satisfaction and business needs of the organization

  • Develops and maintains scripts to facilitate network administrative tasks and automate repetitive processes Leads teams to conduct the technical analysis of current networks

  • Writes requirements documents for evaluation of new hardware/software

  • Develop link budget and perform traffic analysis as needed and update design parameters for ongoing improvements as required.

  • Leads Supports the implementation of data/ system security processes including access controls, monitoring software, and generation of security reports

  • Reviews the Digital organization’s technology enablement and integration plans; demonstrates technical expertise within the network through determining best course of action for network-specific projects

  • Proactively communicates Ameren’s network strategy and links to broader digital objectives across the digital organization

  • Identifies trends in issues and determines the root cause to reduce future issues

  • Manages and ensures quality of medium risk/impact network installations or enhancements (e.g., coordinating meetings, tracking budget, following up on action items)

  • Coaches less experienced co-workers and provides feedback to enhance skills and knowledge

  • Mentors less experienced co-workers

  • Supports training and college recruiting for co-workers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in engineering, mathematics, computer science or business

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Cellular/Mobile Technology proficiency in LTE and practical experience

  • In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Detailed knowledge of the planning, design, implementation and troubleshooting of network systems

  • Understanding of routing and switching technology, IP, and signaling

  • Knowledge of ITIL framework

  • Detailed knowledge of industry trends and products

  • Knowledge of waterfall and agile project management processes, tools and techniques

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with macro and small cell nominal and final RF designs including development, operations, RF KPIs, and maintenance of RF link budgets for 3GPP technologies

  • Proficient in setup, calibration, utilization and data processing of LTE optimization equipment and software

  • Working knowledge of Atoll and experience with model calibration

  • Working knowledge of drive test data post-processing, map generation, frequency planning and interference matrix analysis and site database maintenance

  • Understanding of equipment co-location and experience performing inter-modulation and other external interference analysis

  • SQL querying, programming, an understanding of OEM data schema, and KPI development from RAN and EPC counters is a plus
