About The Position

The Manager SC Data, Planning & Performance is responsible for providing excellent analytic support to the SC organization, especially Strategic Procurement and Materials Management. The Manager oversees and manages a staff that provides day-to-day support for SC and Business Partners, oversees the maintenance of vendor and materials master files, manages demand planning process, and contributes to SC projects. Collaborates with SC and Business Partners to obtain buy in and prioritize continuous improvements, SC performance metrics and reports, and analytics and master file management practices. Identifies and implements leading practices for inventory analytics, budget and resource planning, and talent recruitment and development. Uses and communicates the value of analytics and high-quality master files to SC staff and Business Partners. Reports to the Director COE. A Manager SC Data, Planning & Performance should have skills and expertise in the following areas:


Oversight and Supervision

Key responsibilities include: Manager SC Data, Planning & Performance's primary accountabilities are as follows:

Analytics : Oversees and leads the SC sourcing and data analytics staff. Implements the processes, procedures and guidelines to support the strategic direction, goals and focus areas for the COE group and SC more broadly. Identifies opportunities for analytics to add value to SC and Business Partner practices. Leads collaboration efforts with SC and Business Partners to deploy analytics to improve business results. Continually assesses and refines models and analyses for accuracy and usefulness. Identifies and leads implementation of leading practices for SC analytics.

Inventory Analytics : Oversees and leads the inventory analytics staff. Provides high-quality inventory analytics services to Materials Management and Strategic Procurement. Leads collaboration efforts with Materials Management and Business Partners to improve planning and forecasting processes. Identifies and implements leading practices for inventory analytics in collaboration with Materials Management. Establishes appropriate metrics and dashboards for inventory management.

Data Management : Responsible for the structural integrity of SC data. Ensures "one version of the truth" for key data is maintained. Collaborates with SC management to review and "scrub" data to maintain quality. Identifies process improvements in collaboration with SC management and Business Partners that will improve data quality. Leads communication efforts with Business Partners to explain and demonstrate the value of SC's data management processes.

Demand Planning : Oversees the consolidation of demand plans (services and material needs) from Business Partners for key project or business needs. Oversees the development of demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of the demand planning function. Ensures the use of a standard format for market and supplier analysis reports to drive forecasting accuracy and initial information needs for category planning.

SC Performance : Oversees the design and development of performance metrics and reports for demand, purchasing, pricing and inventory by using standard statistical models and techniques. Ensures improved decision making in planning, forecasting, replenishment and inventory levels through timely and accurate metrics. Ensures required data extraction tools and reports to enable accurate and timely reports. Ensures analysis of trends and projections are communicated to SC and Business Partners in non-technical language.

Budget & Resource Alignment: Collaborates with the Director COE to acquire and deploy resources based on functional and Business Partner needs. Makes recommendations and leads business case development for tool and system enhancements.

Talent, Recruitment and Development: Supports the recruitment and development strategy, established by the Director COE and HR, to identify, recruit, train, and develop talent for SC Analytics and Master File Management and the COE in general. Forecasts department needs based on Business Partner plans to build and maintain a talent management plan for SC Analytics and Master File Management. Ensures appropriate training resources are developed and available to the department.

Continuous Improvement: Implements the framework, metrics, and goals for continuous improvement, To achieve process excellence and stay current with industry innovations, the Manager identifies and drives, in collaboration with the department Leads, leading practices throughout the organization. Communicates initiatives and improvements to Business Partners as appropriate.

Typical Technical Expertise

  • BA/BS degree required; preferably in Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, Digital, or other related field

  • MBA or other related graduate degree preferred

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and time-management skills

  • Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement certification Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) preferred

  • Experience with advanced analytics frameworks and tools preferred

  • Proficient with the MS Office suite

  • 7+ years of directly relevant work experience (e.g., Demand Planning, Market Intelligence, Data Analytics and/or Performance Management), including 2+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams

  • Supply Chain analytics experience, preferably within the utility sector
