Avista Utilities Accounting Analyst in Spokane, Washington

This role is a member of a team that is primarily responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of all project and fixed asset activity. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Set-up, monitor and close capital and operations and maintenance projects.
Research and provide capital and operations and maintenance determinations to internal customers. Prepare monthly closing journals and account reconciliations as assigned.
Maintain fixed asset records by processing retirements and unitizing plant assets.
Prepare analyses, schedules and reports required to support corporate objectives, management decision-making and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Facilitate the monthly system closing processes utilizing Oracle E-Business Suite and/or PowerPlan and assist in resolving system issues as needed.
Respond to questions of internal customers, auditors and commission staff.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience; CPA or MBA is preferred.
Broad knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls.
Knowledge of utility electric or gas operations, and utility, regulatory and/or cost accounting is preferred. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational and computer skills as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
