This is a "Project" position designed to support project work for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 3 years of assignment. From year 4 through the end of your assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.

This is a multi-level growth series position (Grade Level 25/26/27) that is posted at the Associate level. The title, grade level and incentive target assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience, learned through the interview process.

Position description:

Provide engineering and/or operational support for PSE&G’s Outage Planning and Scheduling Group, part of Delivery Projects and Construction (DP&C) in support of capital projects (i.e. major transmission expansions, transmission life cycle, 69kV, and Energy Strong).

The successful candidate(s) will be primarily responsible for developing/submitting/managing planned outages on the transmission and distribution levels for capital projects and may work in one of the PSE&G locations, Hadley Rd – South Plainfield NJ, Palisades Division – Secaucus NJ, Central Division – Somerset, NJ, Metropolitan Division – Clifton, NJ ,Southern Division – Lawrenceville NJ, General Office – Newark, NJ or ESOC – Bridgewater, NJ.

Responsibilities include coordinating with multiple project teams and operating divisions to ensure successful execution of capital projects while maintaining reliability and limiting risk to the bulk electric system and distribution customers. Develop and maintain outage logs to track outages, submit local and transmission outages to meet submission requirements, coordinate with other outage planners, ESOC, and Divisions to avoid conflicting outages, and work with project teams to provide one line updates and other required information to ESOC and Divisions in a timely manner. Schedule/conduct meetings as needed to support project execution. Develop contingency plans to support outages as needed to meet the requirements of the operating divisions. Work with project teams to identify need for mobiles to support outages and work with mobile coordinator to schedule mobiles.

Required for Grade 25:

• B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree or technical experience

• 0-2 years of relevant experience

• Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.

• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment

• Possess leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus

• Must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and results-oriented.

• Must have strong written and verbal communications skills

• Must be willing to work OT as required and perform on-call/emergency support as needed

• Strong computer skills in MS Office applications

• Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects/encourages all aspects of diversity

• Must demonstrate and value differences in others’ strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices.

Desired :

• Advanced degree or technical training

• Electrical utility experience

• Familiarity with substation equipment and operations

• Able to read/understand electrical one lines

• Working knowledge of protective relay schemes and applications

Required for Grade 26:

• B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree or technical experience

• 2-4 years of relevant experience

• Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.

• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment

• Possess leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus

• Must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and results-oriented.
