SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION
Auditors and Senior Auditors (depending on experience) are responsible for performing internal audits designed to examine and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiencies of the Company's internal controls, assess the integrity of financial reports, evaluate risk, identify operational efficiencies, and submit recommendations to appropriate management. To accomplish these objectives the auditors conduct financial, operational, contract, compliance, and/or information technology audits and provide consulting services to management.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ensure all actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy's vision, mission and values
Develop audit programs
Complete audit program steps in accordance with generally accepted auditing, the Institute of Internal Auditor professional standards and NorthWestern Energy's Internal Audit Manual
Review audit evidence, internal controls, perform data analytics and the application of generally accepted accounting principles as a basis for informed objective opinion on the risk, efficiency, effectiveness, and adequacy of the system of control over the business process audited
Ensure that audits include sufficient, relevant, and competent evidence to provide a basis for conclusions reached
Create and make oral and written reports to Management during and at the conclusion of audits
Assist in developing the annual Internal Audit Plan
Evaluate the adequacy of corrective action taken to resolve deficiencies
Assist the external auditor by performing audit tests as requested
Participate in ad hoc task force meetings, to ensure concerns related to risk management and proper internal control are identified and discussed
Travel up to 15% of time
Other duties as assigned
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrate & maintain a good safety and cyber security record
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology related, Engineering or a related field
A certification (such as CIA, CPA, CISA, CFE) or advanced degree (such as MBA, MPAC, or MACC) is preferred, but not required for Auditor but required for Senior Auditor
Proficiency in Information Technology applications, including SAP and Tableau, and familiarity enough to perform reviews of technology, cyber security, and data analytics, is preferred
Experience in utility operations is preferred
Experience as an auditor or other relevant financial or industry experience with thorough knowledge of accounting and auditing techniques is preferred
Knowledge of risk identification, assessment, mitigation and indicators of fraud is preferred
Strong organizational, analytical, documentation, and problem solving skills required
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills required as well as the ability to work in a team environment
