Pike Corporation Student Intern - Renewables & Substation in SC, United States

Position Overview:

This is a full-time/part-time internship opportunity for qualified candidates to work on a variety of renewable energy projects and substation physical projects. Expected duties and responsibilities include assisting engineering team members with design modifications, analysis of various design inputs (such as notes, schematics, manuals etc.). Applying industry standards and codes for design execution and quality control.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintenance of spreadsheets & notes for project tracking

  • Documentation Management of all received design inputs and formal submissions.

  • Assisting engineers with current workload as directed by Supervisor.

  • Creation of project schedules, milestones and deliverables including use of Microsoft Project.

  • Assisting in the solution of issues utilizing engineering principles and practices.

  • Assisting in the management of engineering project spending documentation and basic project analytics.

  • Performing drafting duties with AutoCAD; received and organize markups.

  • Assisting in preparing drawing packages, notes, and any other external correspondence for overall client engagement.

  • Following up on outstanding actions for engineering inputs and deliverables as part of client engagement.

    Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required. Candidate must be currently enrolled at an accredited college/university & pursuing an engineering degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication (both written and verbally) and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work on a team as well as the ability to work autonomously.

  • Proficiency with computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).

    Experienced Gained

  • Working to positively impact the world around them and build a sustainable future for others.

  • Familiarity with a Project Management environment for overall Renewables and Substation projects and Client Engagement.

  • Familiarity with design basics for both Renewables and Substation projects.

  • Mentoring and development of your current skillset.

  • Able to put into practice what you are learning academically.

  • AutoCAD expertise in a working environment.
