Gas Operations is on a mission to become the safest, most reliable gas company in the U.S. Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E’s gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.
The Plant Engineering and Design group is part of the Portfolio Management and Engineering organization within Gas Operations and provides project engineering and design services and support for the operation of over 6000 miles of gas transmission pipeline, nearly 200,000 hp of compression and 3 storage facilities across northern California. The group is focused on the execution of a wide variety of projects to reduce risk, improve equipment reliability, enhance security, and ensure compliance at storage facilities, compressor stations, pressure limited stations, and valve terminals.
Oversees the engineering and design of projects on PG&E's Gas Transmission System. Ensures that team members meet the clients' requirements, deliver projects on time and in compliance with applicable Federal/State/PG&E codes.
Manages all engineering and design activities for assigned workstreams, including: resource assignment, scope development, alternative analysis, workstream collaboration, engineering package development and delivery from DBM through IFC, construction support, and as-built review/acceptance.
Leads staff to ensure timely and quality delivery of engineering services for a wide variety of plant and station related projects requiring civil, structural, mechanical, process, instrumentation, controls, and electrical engineering resource engagement.
Develops individual and team capabilities through effective recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management and coaching, and rewarding and recognizing behaviors that support the PG&E culture.
Oversees and manages relationships with engineering service providers (third party vendors) involved in the execution of work.
Sets department expectations and goals in alignment (Line of Sight) with Gas Operations goals
Develops effective metrics to track, report, and improve department and process performance
Demonstrates support of PG&E’s mission, vision, and culture
Leads the implementation of Lean Management practices within the department
Collaborates across workstreams to improve processes
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
Experience in gas industry, or other job-related experience, 8 years
Leadership experience, 2 years
PE-Professional Engineer license
Knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192, CPUC GO 112
Experience implementing or working with Lean practices
Knowledge of consulting engineering practices
Masters Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
