RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and train employees for safe working conditions and influence all team members to commit to a safe working environment.

  • Promote safe working conditions on job sites and encourage employees to identify unsafe conditions or actions.

  • Plan and support weekly safety meetings ran by operations.

  • Perform regular jobsite safety audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, company and client requirements.

  • Conduct new hire safety orientation training.

  • Identify and evaluate potential unsafe working conditions and take corrective action to prevent injuries and accidents.

  • Establish positive working relationships and interact with site and client safety personnel.

  • Review Site-Specific Safety Plans, Job Hazard Analysis, and Safety Action Plans.

  • Employee is expected to make multiple stops to local jobsites throughout the day.

  • Investigate accidents, determine root cause, and implement preventive measures.

  • Conduct facility audits.

  • Train employees in all relevant aspects of OSHA Standards and Company Safety Policies.

  • Maintain safety training documentation.

  • We have offices in Hayward, CA, Watsonville, CA and Reno, NV. The Safety Supervisor is expected to visit these locations on a regular basis and possibly other locations. Overnight stays are possible.

  • Subcontractor responsibilities? Onboarding, Gatekeeper, etc.

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Skills):

  • 5+ years of experience in Safety and Health in the Construction Field.

  • Training in and working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to the hourly workforce, while also effectively interacting with project management staff, clients, and customers.

  • One of the following certifications: CSHO, CHST, SSH, SHEP or equivalent and OSHA 500 Trainer.

  • First Aid and CPR instructor.

  • Excellent verbal, written communications, and computer skills. Proficient in navigation and use of application-based software for mobile devices.

  • Ability to travel

  • A strong team player attitude with the ability to effectively adjust to changing situations and demands.

    WORK CONDITIONS:

    FIELD: Work is performed most frequently outdoors in weather conditions that vary from sub-zero to heat above 90 degrees, in wet and dry conditions and in rural areas. Employee may perform duties around energized and de-energized electric lines and equipment and moving mechanical parts. Work may be performed in confined spaces. Some exposure to odors, gases, dust and dirt may occur. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. Employee will spend most of his time driving to multiple jobsites throughout the day.

    Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Vector.

    OFFICE: Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.

    Business requirements may frequently necessitate that work be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.

    Business requirements may include periodic travel.
