Department Overview

The Sourcing organization is the functional lead for the procurement of materials and services at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The department collaborates with internal clients and suppliers managing $6 billion of annual company spend to develop mutually beneficial total cost solutions for goods and services. The department provides the following services to internal clients: procurement of goods and services, strategic sourcing and cost savings, supplier relationship management, supplier diversity planning, execution and outreach, compliance management, ongoing procurement field support and management of the procure to pay cycle.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Sourcing Analyst to provide Supply Chain/Sourcing, financial, business and market analysis, data compilation and strategic sourcing portfolio support to the Electric Operations Sourcing Organization to drive greater total cost of ownership. The Senior Sourcing Analyst will report to the Manager, Supply Chain Analytics.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing Data Compilation, Analysis, and Validation:

  • Lead the development and identification of potential spend reduction, supplier consolidation and standardization opportunities.

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses to assist the Strategic Sourcing team to develop sourcing strategies and supplier selection/recommendation activities

  • Maintain awareness of industry and market trends through ongoing research.

  • Perform advanced analysis including Should Cost Analysis, Cost Benefits Analysis, Benchmarking Studies, Spend Analysis, and Needs Assessment.

Financial Reporting and Presentation:

  • Monitor financial condition/health of suppliers to proactively identify solvency risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

  • Perform actual SAP savings vs. forecasted Funnel savings variance analysis.

  • Lead the monthly Funnel/Forecast review meeting with the Sourcing Portfolio Managers, Executive Director, and VP of Sourcing.

  • Track, review and validate savings calculations for all projects within the portfolio.

Supplier Profile and Performance Management:

  • Lead and coordinate the supplier performance management process for T1 and T2 suppliers. Define, develop, and implement supplier scorecard metrics and measurement tools.

  • Lead the development of Executive Supplier Profile.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required (one year of experience for every one year of college)

  • 4 years of sourcing, financial/business analysis, and/or data analytics experience

Desired:

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree

  • Six Sigma, CPSM or other related certification

  • Strong financial modeling; data compilation, interpretation, analysis and presentation; management consulting; and sourcing analytics skills

  • Proficiency in summarizing and presenting quantitative analysis using MS PowerPoint and Tableau

  • Proficiency in competitive analysis and industry / market research approaches

  • Knowledge of basic statistics

  • Demonstrated success interaction at various organizational levels, from Sourcing Specialists, Managers, Directors to Executives

  • Understanding of Supply Chain processes, policies and procedures, and contract elements

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, team focus, and have the ability to lead cross functional teams

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Excellent analytical & critical thinking skills

  • Proficiency in SAP, SQL, ARIBA, and Tableau

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
