Business Technology Corporate Services is a unified organization comprised of various SAP support teams which collaborate effectively to deliver high quality SAP technology solutions.

Position Summary

The Senior Functional Analyst position is responsible for the development of IT solutions for Time and Payroll functions. They provide SME support for SAP Time, Payroll, CATS, ESS and MSS functionality.

They will work closely with the various lines of Business to build and maintain relationships with the Payroll, Time collection and other relevant teams for business requirements, issues resolution and sustained overall customer satisfaction.

They provide subject matter expertise for SAP Time, SAP Payroll and other related applications to assure that best practices are implemented and the modules/applications are efficiently and effectively used to support PG&E’s Payroll & Time business requirements.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 4 years of job related experience in Information Technology

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Functional Analyst (can have less experience in case of an advanced degree)

  • Minimum 3 years of experience implementing or supporting an ERP system (ERP – e.g. SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle)

  • Minimum 4 years of SAP Time and Payroll systems experience

  • Minimum 4 years of experience designing and configuring SAP Time and Payroll solutions

  • Experience with rule writing for Time and Payroll Schemas

  • Experience with CATS, CATS User Exits

  • Experience with quota generation and quota management

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP Payroll & Time integration with other SAP modules and 3 rd party systems

  • Experience working with SAP Custom HCM Infotypes

  • Good understanding of Finance and HR master data and its impact on Payroll & Time processing especially retro-calculations

  • Experience with integration to non-SAP systems and mobile applications

  • Minimum 2 years of configuration experience in any SAP module such as FI/CO, PM, PS and willingness to work on other SAP cross-functional modulus as needed

  • Ability to gather business requirements and translate business requirements into SAP/IT solutions

  • Strong communication skills to interact with all levels of management


  • Master’s degree or MBA

  • SAP ABAP programming knowledge and/or debugging experience

  • Knowledge and general experience with SAP Fiori and SAP BI/BW

  • Configuration experience in SAP FI/CO

  • Certificate of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA)

  • Certification in 1-2 ERP modules from Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft etc.


  • Works closely with business Subject Matter Experts, user community, other SAP analysts, technical and development teams, and other team members in the organization, on SAP production maintenance and support tasks, projects, and initiatives

  • Performs SAP analysis and configuration to support changing and new business needs

  • Coordinate the life cycle of application changes, corrective and new Responsible for the design, configuration, implementation and support of SAP Payroll, and Time modules.

  • Assignments will be a mix of Projects, Enhancements, and Production Support

  • Participate as part of the internal SAP Payroll, Time and Finance functional support team

  • Ensures successful implementation of new/enhanced Time & Payroll functionality on time, on scope and within budget

  • Communicates and coordinates with Manager, LOB Leaders, and Project Manager to ensure appropriate integration of processes and modules/applications/systems across enterprise

  • Resolves issues or escalates as needed
