Team Overview

PG&E’s Information Technology (IT) organization is comprised of various unified departments which collaborate effectively to deliver high quality technology solutions.

The Digital Catalyst Team is a new enterprise team that is responsible for working collaboratively with the lines of business (e.g., Gas Operations, Electric Operations, etc.) to implement consumer grade mobile and analytical solutions across various user groups (e.g., field users, office workers, etc.).

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Deploying best-in-class / rapid delivery capability for mobile & analytics solutions.

  • Simplifying, improving, and standardizing business work management processes.

  • Delivering high value analytics across all Lines of Business.

  • Rapid delivery of web and data products.

Digital Catalyst consists of a staff of highly skilled professionals working together to produce mobile & analytics solutions following an agile methodology and design thinking principles. Position Summary

The Digital Catalyst Analytics team exists to unlock the value from PG&Es data. We are seeking a career Product Owner (PO) who will provide a clear product vision. From this, the PO guides the team in writing, estimating and prioritizing user stories. They build a well-informed product roadmap to give transparency to leadership and set stakeholder expectations. This role works with team and technical leadership to maintain the technical integrity and quality of the product. The Product Owner focuses on the end-user experience and needs which will drive the deliver the product. They are responsible for building and maintaining relationships that allow the Product Owner to act as the customer proxy.

Position Responsibilities

  • Hold a vision for the product on behalf of the business, the customer, the user

  • Represent the interests of the business to the team

  • Represent the product and the team to the business

  • Communicate with stakeholders regularly

  • Write user stories

  • Help others write user stories

  • Understand the business value of each user story

  • Prioritize the user stories into a strictly ordered backlog

  • Identify acceptance criteria for each story

  • Accept or reject completed work, determining whether it has met acceptance criteria

  • Arbitrate conflicting requirements from stakeholders

  • Provide the information that the team needs to estimate each story

  • Make yourself available to answer the team’s questions about requirements and business value

  • Clarify the requirements for the team

  • Gather feedback from stakeholders at the sprint review

Minimum Education/Skills

  • High School or GED-General Educational Development-GED Diploma

  • 2 years of experience in similar or related job functions (Information Technology or Business) that could be substituted by an advanced degree

Desired Education / Skills

  • BA/BS in Computer Science/Information Systems, Business, Engineering, etc. or equivalent experience

  • Product Owner, Scrum Master, or other Agile certification

  • Humble – is open to being coached, has high EQ and is self-aware

  • Hungry – desires to get things done while honoring people, and seeks better ways to do the job

  • Collaborative – has strong interpersonal skills; cares about and works well with teammates

  • Willingness to impact beyond defined role
