Department Overview

PG&E’s Information Technology (IT) organization is comprised of various unified departments which collaborate effectively in order to deliver high quality technology solutions.

The Digital Catalyst Team is a new enterprise team that is responsible for working collaboratively with the lines of business (e.g., Gas Operations, Electric Operations, etc.) to implement consumer grade mobile and analytical solutions across various user groups (e.g., field users, office workers, etc.). This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Deploying best-in-class / rapid delivery capability for mobile & analytics solutions.

  • Simplifying, improving, and standardizing business work management processes for mobile needs

  • Delivering high value analytics across all Lines of Businesses

  • Rapid delivery of web applications

Digital Catalyst consists of a staff of highly skilled professionals working together to produce mobile & analytics solutions following an agile methodology and design thinking. We are a “start-up” department within IT and building a driven and creative development team. We take the time to understand our partners’ needs and translate those into solutions that delight our users. Our goal is to deliver products with intuitive user experience that will improve PG&E employees’ and customer’s safety, productivity and overall well-being.

Position Summary

We are seeking a business and tech savvy individual to provide vision & leadership within Data & Analytics at PG&E. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of one or more lines-of-business, and will be able to identify and guide the team to areas of highest enterprise value. They will possess sufficient technical background to advise stakeholders on how to optimally approach data challenges. They may directly take on the Product Owner role for a strategic Data Product.

Must have a passion for using data & analytics to create novel ways to solve business problems. Will be responsible for developing an environment where teams can be successful by removing roadblocks, fostering a culture of agility, and providing leadership & guidance. The successful candidate must also be able to build and maintain a strong network of data-minded business leaders to create support for a successful enterprise data management program.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, job-related discipline or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of job-related experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in business analysis, project management, business architecture and/or other related area

  • Excellent analytical and technical skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of using common office productivity software

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage to budgets

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively navigate complex organizational, process, technical and political challenges


  • CBAP-Certified Business Analysis Professional Certification

  • Experience in working with cross-functional departments

  • Strong leadership skills in the technology domain and a high level of drive, initiative and assertiveness

  • Deep knowledge and understanding of one or more PG&E lines-of-business

  • Experience identifying benefits and developing business plans

  • Knowledge of data management principles, data acquisition and modeling, data warehousing, business intelligence, metadata management, data security

  • Knowledge of data governance principles

  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Slack

  • Experience with software development methodologies and software engineering principles, with an emphasis on data related development techniques

  • Knowledge of program management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level

  • Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences


  • Works with multiple Line-of Business stakeholders to understand opportunities and prioritize technical development

  • Dives deep into business problems to understand where process changes will be needed to leverage technical capabilities, and champions process change where needed
