The Transportation Services Fleet Department at PG&E is the premier provider of service and repair of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment throughout the PG&E service territory.
This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.
The Garage Subforeman will:
-Maintain a safe working environment for fleet personnel at all times.
-Ensure that all personal safety protective equipment is in working order and used when required by all personnel.
-Conduct and document all safety tailboards meetings & maintain records.
-Assist in all safety accident investigations and Nurse Report Line.
This position is a DOT covered classification and is subject to random drug screening.
Possess the ability to prioritize and manage the workload and assign job duties.
Work well with other Employees and foster teamwork and a can do attitude.
Ensure that all Fleet Employees adhere to the Company’s Employee Code of Conduct Policy
Conduct tailboards and communicate with employees regularly.
Ability to mentor and train other employees.
Ensure that all regulated vehicles and equipment are not over their regulated requirement due dates.
Daily/Weekly/Monthly Job Tasks:
Audit and close work orders(WO) in Fleet Anywhere (FA); work finished queue should be empty at the end of shift/day
Review open WO queue to ensure WO’s are finished in a timely manner
Check to confirm all open WO’s are in delay before the end of day
Review all Pending Service Requests (SRs) in queue for future work needs of the area
Assist with employee timesheet in FA, full shift entered each day, clock in / clock out. Ensure Timecard is submitted by end of shift.
Ensure campaigns are scheduled and completed as soon as possible upon release
Review and schedule all Preventative Maintenance (PM) work and assign to mechanics as needed for the week.
Ensure Mechanics are filling out PM check list items correctly and filing forms
Open and assign work orders prior to the mechanics arrival – have work ready for them
Review daily transfer report and transfer vehicle to current locations for all garages in our area.
Ensure daily/weekly/monthly environmental inspections are completed (fuel island, waste oil, and monthly garage audits).
Review soon due report PM schedule to ensure the correct PM is assigned to a vehicle. (case in point, last week a dump truck in Burney had P inspection assigned to it…it is not a PERP vehicle and did not have an auxiliary engine)
New vehicle deployment on SharePoint updates. Schedule the work on the new unit and ensure we get the old unit out of service within the 3 day time frame.
Vehicle disposition, ensure when a vehicle is turned in by the client we get that unit entered into the system. The process is the same as if client turns a unit in to us as no longer needed or the vehicle is to be sent to auction.
Schedule, Track, and manage farm outs.
Respond to client request to support client requests within business policy.
Act as a liaison between Fleet Services and the Client to maintain an open line of communication with the Clients and Fleet Manager.
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
4 or more years’ experience as a certified Journey-level Mechanic working with light, medium and/or heavy-duty equipment service and repair
3 years of supervisory experience
Ability to work in all types of weather extremes
Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
Ability to work flexible schedules, extended hours, nights, weekends, and/or overtime (scheduled or ad hoc)
Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds a minimum of one time a day
Must be capable of climbing on, under and around equipment.
Must be capable of bending and twisting using proper safety techniques.
Must be physically able to kneel, squat or crawl as needed.
Live within 50 miles of listed headquarters
Must have own tools and tool box.
Internal PG&E Employees:
Must have qualified on Physical Test Battery (PTB) exam and Work Orientation Inventory Driving (WOIPT_D) prior to applying.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License (or higher) by Day 1 of hire
External and Hiring Hall Candidates:
Must qualify on Physical Test Battery (PTB) exam and Work Orientation Inventory Driving (WOIPT_D) prior to interviewing.
Must possess and maintain a valid Class A California Driver's License Permit by Day 1 of hire
Must possess and maintain a valid DMV Medical Card by Day 1 of hire
Minimum one year experience with air brakes
Minimum one year experience with hydraulics
Minimum one year experience with heavy duty diesel equipment and/or vehicles
Minimum one year experience with regulated inspections such as Cal OSHA Boom Inspections and CHP BIT Inspections
Minimum one year experience with vehicle electrical systems and electronic computer-controlled systems
Demonstrated experience with welding and fabricating
Demonstrated experience with reading and interpreting schematics and blueprints
