Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

Participates in designing, developing and maintaining the Emergency Preparedness and Emergency Response training programs. Provides emergency training exercises and drills to internal employees in various departments involved in emergency planning and business continuity. Ensures assigned employee groups can perform effectively in emergency situations. Will be expected to use a multi modal delivery system to deliver training to EOC staff and other emergency response and/or support staff. Will work with PG&E Academy and external vendors to develop state of the art interactive training courses and programs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviews complex plans to identify deficiencies that must be addressed and provide guidance on training solutions that would address issues identified.

  • Leads the department EOC Training program.

  • Assists in the planning and the development of annual functional Company exercise design and execution.

  • Reviews planning templates and emergency plan annexes to improve emergency training development planning functions.

  • Plans, facilitates and/or participates in regular Line of Business emergency training exercises and drills.

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with business units and external agencies.

  • Represents PG&E at community events focused on emergency response and preparedness.

  • Provides guidance, support and information to assigned field groups preparing plans for inclusion in the Company Emergency Response Plan as Annexes.

  • Provides guidance to EMS Senior/Specialists in their daily work and special projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management or job-related discipline or equivalent experience

  • Job-related experience, 7 years

  • Experience in emergency planning and preparedness

  • Experience as Trainer, or related

Desired Qualifications

  • Emergency Operations Center (EOC) training

  • Incident Command System (ICS) certification

  • Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification

  • Business Continuity Planning (BCP) certification, or similar

  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations and laws

  • Knowledge of emergency planning, preparedness, disaster recovery, and business continuity methods and best practices.

  • Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives

  • Knowledge of utility operations processes and procedures, methodologies, and regulatory issues.
