Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

Participates in designing, developing and maintaining the Company Emergency Preparedness plans, processes, standards and programs. Supports the development of emergency training exercises and drills to internal employees in various departments involved in emergency planning and business continuity. Ensures assigned employee groups can perform effectively in emergency situations with processes identified in planning documents. Revises emergency response plans and standards as necessary to keep compliant with CPUC requirements, industry trends, and newly developed PG&E emergency response standards and/or processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves on a rotating on-call basis to support the activation and operation of one or more centralized or regional emergency operations centers or teams during an actual emergency.

  • Coordinates the execution of annual company exercise as Emergency Response Planning lead.

  • Participates in the develops and execution of emergency drills and exercises in support to the EOC Training lead.

  • Provides guidance, support and information to assigned field groups preparing plans under direction of EP&R

  • Manages annual Incident Command System (ICS) training schedule and monitors delivered training for quality, content and completions.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of guidelines and process documentation.

  • With Business Continuity team members conducts impact interview and planning sessions with clients (business, IT, Vendor).

  • Tracks LOB and Company Emergency plan completion and review plans to identify opportunities for training courses and provides guidance on solutions that would address issues identified.

  • Prepares and updates standards related to emergency planning and exercises.

  • Supports relationships with business units and external agencies.

  • Maintains the Company’s Emergency Response plans and documents.

  • Assists with the preparation of templates and annexes.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School or General Educations Development – GED Diploma

  • Job-related experience, 3 years

Desired Qualifications

  • Incident Command System (ICS) certification

  • Emergency Operations Center (EOC) training

  • Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification

  • Business Continuity Planning (BCP) certification, or similar

  • Experience applying knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance an organization’s goals.

  • Knowledge of emergency planning, preparedness, disaster recovery, and business continuity methods and best practices.
