Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

Participates in designing, developing and maintaining the Electric Operations Emergency Preparedness plans, processes, standards and programs. Provides emergency training exercises and drills to internal employees in various departments involved in emergency planning and business continuity. Ensures assigned employee groups can perform effectively in emergency situations and operate the transmission or distribution grid in a reliable manner.

Job Responsibilities

  • Serves on a rotating on-call basis to support the activation and operation of one or more centralized or regional emergency operations centers or teams during an actual emergency.

  • Coordinates the development and execution of annual company exercise.

  • Develops and executes emergency drills and exercises as a team leader.

  • Provides guidance, support and information to assigned field groups preparing plans under direction.

  • Manages annual Incident Command System (ICS) training schedule and monitors delivered training for quality and content.

  • Assists in the development and implementation of guidelines and process documentation.

  • Provides a lead role in organizing and conducting impact interview and planning sessions with clients (business, IT, Vendor).

  • Supports the envision and design new programs to support the BCEP function.

  • Tracks plan completion for all plans, review plans to identify deficiencies that must be addressed and provides guidance on solutions that would address issues identified.

  • Prepares and updates standards related to exercises.

  • Supports relationships with business units and external agencies.

  • Maintains the Company’s Emergency Operations Center and Alternate Emergency Operations Center.

  • Assists with the preparation of templates and Corporate Security Plans.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School or General Educations Development – GED Diploma

  • Job-related experience, 3 years

Desired Qualifications

  • Incident Command System (ICS) certification

  • Instructor certification, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)

  • Emergency Operations Center (EOC) training

  • System Dispatcher certification, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)

  • Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification

  • Business Continuity Planning (BCP) certification, or similar

  • Applying knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization’s goals.

  • Knowledge of emergency planning, preparedness, disaster recovery, and business continuity methods and best practices.
