Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

Participates in the development and execution of the Business Impact Analysis and development of the Business Continuity Plans with internal employees in various departments involved in emergency planning and business continuity. Assists in the development of the Threat, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment. Engages as a key stakeholder in the development of the Multi Year Training and Exercise Plan and supports incident response. Ensures assigned employee groups can perform effectively in emergency situations and operate the transmission or distribution grid in a reliable manner.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reviews complex plans to identify deficiencies that must be addressed and provide guidance on solutions that would address issues identified.

  • Leads the department Hazard Analysis Matrix for Emergency Prevention.

  • Assists in the planning and the development of annual functional Company exercise design and execution.

  • Manages planning templates and emergency plan annexes to improve emergency planning functions.

  • Supports planning, and facilitation of Business Continuity training, exercises and drills.

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with business units and external agencies.

  • Supports emergency prevention manager in exercise design and execution with outside agencies.

  • Represents PG&E at community events focused on emergency response and preparedness.

  • Provides guidance, support and information to assigned field groups preparing plans for inclusion in the Company Emergency Response Plan as Annexes.

  • Provides guidance to EMS Senior/Specialists in their daily work and special projects.

  • Performs advanced Threat, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Emergency Management or job-related discipline or equivalent experience

  • Job-related experience, 7yrs

  • Experience in emergency planning and preparedness

  • Experience as Trainer, or related

Desired:

  • Instructor certification, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)

  • System Dispatcher certification, North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)

  • Incident Command System (ICS) certification

  • Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification

  • Business Continuity Planning (BCP) certification, or similar

  • Knowledge of emergency planning, preparedness, disaster recovery, and business continuity methods and best practices.

  • Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.

  • Knowledge of electric operations processes, procedures, methodologies, and regulatory issues.

  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local regulations and laws (e.g., FERC, NERC, CAISO, CPUC).
