The Sourcing organization is the functional lead for the procurement of materials and services at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The department collaborates with internal clients and suppliers managing $5 billion of annual company spend to develop mutually beneficial total cost solutions for goods and services. The department provides the following services to internal clients: procurement of goods and services, strategic sourcing and cost savings, contract management, supplier relationship management, supplier diversity planning, execution and outreach, compliance management, ongoing procurement field support and management of the procure to pay cycle.
We are seeking a Category Leader, Principal for Corporate Services. The successful candidate will develop and manage one or more sourcing spend categories and manages all Tier 1 contracts associated with the category(ies), including Management Consulting, and other indirect spend categories such as Benefits, Safety, Contingent Labor, Consulting Services, Training, Real Estate, Facilities Management and Construction delivery partners, among others. The candidate will develop strategic category plans to optimize cost savings, service excellence, diversity spend and total cost of ownership for the categories. They will effectively influence LOBs, including senior leadership, to achieve understanding, acceptance, and commitment of sourcing strategies. This candidate will work with Line of Business (LOB) to develop, source and negotiate major contracts, and play a key role in Supplier Relationship Management / Scorecard process.
10 years of work experience in procurement, sourcing and/or supply chain or other related discipline
Possess Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of work experience
Possess MBA or equivalent advanced degree
Possess Six Sigma, CPSM, or related certificate
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve problems and implementation barriers
Demonstrated leadership and management skills
Demonstrated ability to lead mid-complexity projects
Possess SAP/Ariba proficiency
Leads the development of category strategies of high complexity.
Leads cross-functional team through strategic sourcing process and development/execution of negotiation strategies for high complexity spend categories.
Develops and sustains mutually beneficial strategic relationships with tier 1 and cross-portfolio suppliers.
Develops and review performance data with suppliers. Works with suppliers to drive ongoing value discovery. Maintains awareness of industry and market trends through ongoing research.
Subject matter expert for particular commodities or services in the industry.
Sets market trends on particular commodities by working with the industry on best practices.
Creates and maintains category plans.
Works with senior management to support strategic planning and decision-making at the officer level.
Conducts and documents market research and supplier risk analysis to verify the financial health of existing and potential suppliers.
