QUES safely provides engineering, procurement and construction services for comprehensive infrastructure needs in the electric power, oil, and natural gas industries. QUES has the knowledge and expertise to handle a full spectrum of projects. From the most straightforward, single-component installation to the most complex, multi-state project, QUES handles the job safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. We are looking for a Qualified Electrical Designer to provide engineering, design and drafting in the preparation of all projects assigned. They will also provide assistance/direction on engineering projects and establish priorities, while providing innovation to support the long-term vision of the department and company. Our growing company is seeking to hire a Qualified Electrical Designer/Engineer II, who develops plans, designs, resource requirements and cost estimates for construction and maintenance projects involving electrical distribution overhead and underground lines and facilities. Completes Applicant & Contract design documentation as well as communicates and coordinates with other departments, customers, governmental bodies, and various external organizations. Starting range $80k dependent upon experience, qualifications, and SDG&E designer testing/hours status.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare preliminary and detailed drawings using computer aided drafting software.

  • Prepare construction plans, material requirements, design calculations and construction reports for electrical distribution overhead and underground projects.

  • Assist in the development of Conversions, conductor replacement, structure placements, planning, applicant design and other Overhead, Underground and Gas projects.

  • Review field data, photos, and plans to meet requirements of latest updates and technologies of the customer.

  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet all standards/requirements.

  • Performs field visits to gather technical data. Create and translate Wind Loading/Pole Loading /compliance forms (O’Calc). Coordinate access to professional/private facilities (eg, schools, hospitals, military bases, etc.) when applicable.

  • Assist in field site meets; meet with developers, customers, local agencies.

  • Communicates with internal staff and customer with appropriate medias (email, fax, phone, video, etc.)

  • Accurately complete various OH/UG data sheets. Field check design layouts. Office check designs and redline changes.

What You'll Bring

  • Has a broad knowledge of electrical and engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices. Has a general knowledge of customer proprietary software including, but not limited to: SAP/SharePoint, iCUE, GIS, ProCore/P-6 and O’Calc/PLS-CADD. Skills: Construction, Electrical, AutoCAD & MS Office.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is - depending on experience and qualifications.
