PSEG Reactor Engineering Mgr in Salem, New Jersey

Reactor Engineering Manager

Provides management oversight for the Reactor Engineering functions with a focus on achieving top quartile performance in reactivity management. The department’s day-to-day and on-call engineering support functions include: Conduct reactor surveillances, start up and power ascension testing; Support and plan plant reactivity maneuvers including generating reactivity plans, monitoring the reactor and providing recommendations to operations; Implement the Special Nuclear Material control program by performing regulatory reporting, periodic audits and planning movement of material during new fuel receipt, outages, and dry cask storage; Perform refueling activities including verification of core loading and visual inspection of assemblies; Act as owner for the spent fuel pool Boral Aging Management Program; Operate, monitor, and maintain computer programs used for core monitoring, dry cask storage fuel selection, and core flux mapping; Perform fuel reliability calculations; Operate and maintain system health of the incore flux mapping system; Perform core thermal engineer function of the emergency plan.

The Reactor Engineering Manager maintains supervisory oversight of the team of reactor engineers, supports the site during planned and unplanned outages, retains accountability for assigned budget as well as staffing, development, compensation and related human resource needs for the department.

REQUIRED : BS Degree in Engineering and 4 years professional experience. Minimum 2 years nuclear power plant experience in one or more related areas (reactor physics, core measurements, core heat transfer, and core physics testing programs) or equivalent. Meet ANSI/ANS 3.1 requirements and related Technical Specifications for Reactor Engineering group leader. Must meet PSEG Nuclear’s requirements for unescorted site access.

DESIRED : Degree in Nuclear Engineering; previous Reactor Engineering, Nuclear Fuels or Senior Reactor Operator experience; 3 years leadership/supervisory experience; Advanced Technical Degree or Masters of Business Administration.

As an employee of PSE&G or PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.
