MasTec Utility Services Tool Repair Technician in Roxboro, North Carolina

The Tool Repair Technician is responsible for the repair of all manual hand tools, hydraulic tools, and small engines. This position supports the construction teams and works with personnel within various departments. The Technician will also be responsible for maintaining required load plans and ensuring proper inventory is stocked according to tool lists.

Essential Functions

  • Repair and service small engine equipment such as generators, chain saws, and other various gasoline powered equipment.

  • Inspect and repair equipment as needed; such as manual crimping tools, bolt cutters, hydraulic crimpers, and pole tamps.

  • Perform operational checks of all tools after repairs are complete.

  • Load tools on new overhead and underground truck packages.

  • Deliver tools to various locations throughout the region.

  • Keep up stock levels of all tools, repair parts, and basic hardware for tool repairs.

  • Order repair parts, materials, and supplies as required.

  • Maintain work area and workstations in a clean, safe, and presentable manner.

  • Must adhere to all safety protocols

  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Be able to attain a Class A Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of hire.

  • Mechanically inclined and possess the ability to perform tool repairs.

  • Ability to service, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on all various types of small engine and related equipment.

  • Good verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to perform tasks associated with computer management software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Excel for itemized tracking.

  • Good hand-eye coordination.

  • Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.

  • Must have or be able to develop good organizational skills.

  • Must be able to complete paperwork (invoices and packing slips) as required and meet monthly deadlines after receiving sufficient training.

This job is mostly performed in a shop environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
